Paint Job??

i want to get my car painted either a solid color or maybe with some designs ( like maybe a racing stripe and car number,something simple) how much should i be looking to spend on a decent paint job. my car wont be entering any competitions and i dont have a butt load of cash to spend on a paint job.....just want something similar to the factory job with something extra decal wise. thanks guys in advance....

probably anywhere from $500 - $1000 for a basic job depending on the size of the car and detailing.

depends on the brand of paint, and the quality of work done....

for example,

take it to maaco, and you wont be spending a whole lot. but you will probably get a pretty bad paint job. (from what i have heard, they dont do much prep work at all)

or you could take it to an actual body shop where they will properly prep it and paint it proffesionally. this of course is far more expensive but you will get the best results. a normal body shop rate starts around 80 or so per hour. so labour would probably be 1000+

and quality paint is a whole different factor. you could buy shit paint, or get good stuff. im buying house of kolor kandy base for my 180sx and it is around 90/quart. so im going to be spending around 900-1200 just on paint.

thats my limited knowledge for ya hah

haha yea you dont need to spend that much. my car will be a daily driver(summer) show car when its done so i dont mind spending the little extra to make it look amazing.

unless you have some connections you will have too, to get decent quality.

not to mention body work if it needs it.

from the sounds of it, you might as well just go to maaco. as a painter myself, i generally don't send anyone to maaco, but it sounds like you just want something cheap that's going to look decent from a ways away, and that would be your best bet.

but if you want something that actually looks good, and lasts a long time, you're in for a G minimum.
