Overrated amp, go to a lower ohm?

Just a bit of advice... if you get two it would be a bit odd to run one at one load and one at another. One thing they do lack is internal strapping - but you could strap them with a maxx-link at 3 ohms for 1.5 ohms per amp with excellent results.

Using Jacob's numbers of 770 at 4 ohms compared to 300 rated, and being conservative, you are looking at around 1600-1800 at 1 ohm. The se's are rated at 600 a piece.... that makes 1800 total. At 1.34 ohms that looks like a very good match to me. By going over the rated on those subs by even 200 a piece you will see very little gain, and a whole lot more wear on your subs, especially for a daily setup. Stick with the 1 1200d and you will be fine.

i might be able to find a 3000d used... i am not sure what those would even be priced at. it would be nice to run one of those at 3 ohms and then have the ability to eassily upgrade later just by changing out subs.

3000d goes for 650-750 ish used. Get your electrical up before you put that bad boy in, or you will regret it.
well, i am gettign the powermaster 250-300 amp alty late this year when it comes out. you might be surprised what the HHR can currently handle. a couple batts here and there i can do pretty easilty. i have 2400hc right now.

My experience with SE's has been extensive, if you're not an idiot they can easily take 1000rms each...

Used to have a friend with a single 15 and a RE35.1 (So 1100rms) ported... worked quite well.

i know the 3000d is true to is figures as far as RMS, unlike many brands, but what if i ran at 1.34 on a 3000d.... 2400 watts rms, i suppose? i would be affraid those *****es would just jump out the box, somewhat like snoopdan did to that TC sub . lol!

Everything about that 5500D board says it is exactly the same as the older PA A3000dB board (except the 5500 is fused). There should be info all over if you google it. I believe the SPL geeks had it at 1900-2000 @ 1 ohm, and some people running it below 1 ohm (nom) w/o problems.
