overheating HU

i have an alpine 7378 or something like that.. anyway the Q is when i take out my cd after playin it for a while its really hot..dont no y cuz i dont over kill it.. is it cuz its like 3 years old or what.. could us the help thanks

That's common, my old Alpine (I think it was that model too) used to heat up discs too, but not once did it go into protection.

My Blau HU get's REALLY hot, but it's just from the light in the faceplate. Try turning down the brightness and see if that makes a differance.

all head units tend to have the heat crazy factor, check online or google to find out how to mod your Head unit to adda fan on the back. I did it and it's a few degrees cooler. But beware that if you do this mod, your warranty will be voided.

well my expired lol 3 years ago so i really guess that i have nothing to lose..and u can add a fan the a HU.....

i just added a four channel amp and my HU does get warm but not as much as it used to, but i have had my HU get extremely hot and it has a protection on it and it never went into protection.
