Overall Thoughts on New System

Any thoughts on the overall practicality of this system that i recently purchased would be much appreciated (especially the power requirements):

Head Unit: Kenwood double din DDX372BT

Front: Dash Apline SPS-410's (45W RMS at 4 ohms) Doors Alpine SPR-10TW (5-150W RMS? at 4 ohms).. Can only fit 4 inch speakers in the factory position of the speakers on the front of the dash so that's what I went with, and the type-r tweeters will go in the top of the door less than a foot away from the dash woofers.

Rear: Alpine SPR-60's (100W RMS at 4 ohms)

Those speakers will be ran on an Alpine PDR-F50 (125Wx4 at 2 ohms, 85Wx4 at 4 ohms).

Trunk: Hopefully the crown jewel of the system.... a JL 10W6v3 (200-600W watts RMS at 2 ohms) in the HO110 ported box that will be powered by an Alpine PDR-M65 (450W RMS x 1 at 4 ohms, 650 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)

I am somewhat worried of the overall power for each component. As well as how the supposedly heavier sound from the rear will affect my small front speakers. The car is a 91 Lexus ES 250 and has a pretty small cabin, and the trunk is really small, I wanted to get the 12W6 but it would not fit...

Dash looks like a 3.5 and the front doors a 5.25/6.5 depending on model. Why not just go component set with 6.5" in the doors and tweeter in the dash? ALOT of work involved to fit 10" woofers properly in the doors. I would swap the rear components for a co-axial set up, run that off the HU, and bridge the 4 channel to the front component set.

I think I must've got you confused...My factory setup only has speakers in the front of the dash and tweeters on the top on the door.... i mean the car is weird i've searched all the toyota/lexus forums and they have no information about stereo upgrades, and i went to the local audio shop and the dude said 4's would fit in the dash like off top lol... but I've noticed there are two different size grills on the dash, nonetheless a really slight modification should fit 4's in there really tho (at least on the driver side that has the smaller grill with the trunk latch right under it)... I really don't think any 5 or 6's would fit in the door the way it is configured.. idk i've kind of figured out my amps will work with what I have anyways.. just slightly worried about sound stage at this point I guess

Id stay away from type S line of alpine, the sound is nasty and lack any depth or detail. Look into image dynamics ctx 4 instead, they can get loud and sound amazing.handles 100rmsas well, no need to worry about the rear overpowering them. Your head unit has a fader option to deal with that as well. Again those type S will be the weakest link of your system. Also since there are already tweeters on the ctx4, you should not add another tweeter. Multiple tweeters in different locations will give off a very harsh and sibilant sound due to beaming effects. If anything id do a kick panel midbass woofer to handle the midbass portion and balance out your sound. As it stands your male vocals and midbass drum kicks will be lacking up front.

If you aredead set on running a dedicated tweeter, then look into 3 to 4 inch dedicated midranges, you can find them on partsexpress.com or madisound.com.

the only speaker size for the front i could get was someone talking about a 2nd gen V6 camry which is has the same drive train and all and is fairly similar to my car but I don't know if it really has the same factory sound set-up as my car, and they said they were gone put in 3.5's in the front... but nonetheless its not too expensive to switch the 4's for 3.5's really in the end.. but I'm definitely willing to cut into that b**** if I have too as well so idk...

I did just cop those ctx-4's... like i said it's really nothing to replace 4's lol... i was kind've worried running small woofers in the front and them gettin killed but these seem quite the remedy... maybe someday I'll upgrade to a legit high and mid level sound to complement the 10w6 ( im sure that sub will last the test of time)... but for my first system i think this will go quite well... i feel everyone thinks just because ur runnin a legit sub + loud 6's in the rear and only can muster 4's or what not in the front u might as well just not even try... but i shall try and i shall succeeed!!!! lets go

Yeah i have a pair of those ctx 4s. They get surprisingly loud for 4" and handled a bit more than rated power with ease during my test runs with them. The tweeters are silky smooth in comparison to type S tweeters.

Yes the 6.5 in the kick will require another amp OR just have the rear on head unit power and focus your amplifier on the most important part, the front stage. Have the midbass on two channels, have the coax or tweet in the other channel. Thats how most high end cars have it setup, the rear speakers should never be a focus/money dump in a system.

Um what?!

The Alpine Type-S are awesome speakers for under $100 and often perform better than the Type-Rs. Have you ever even installed these? Or just heard them in some half-*** install? I have never heard anyone say negative things about those speakers. I have installed 100s of them and the only time they haven't performed well is in the newer Wranglers and that is only because it is a sealed pod.

To the OP: I have checked METRA, and our work guide for fitment and both places states 6.5" in the front doors on a 1991 Lexus ES250. I could even provide pictures of the door panels off if it helps. With that being said, it is strongly recommended to go with a 6.5" component set. To keep this simple, as I said before, I would just put the tweeters in the dash.
