**Our Fiberglass Worklog** - 56K please beware (lots of pics)

yes- very good job if it was your first time
the wood frame was done beautifully! Looks like you didn't feel like sanding toward the end. those wide curves like that can be very tricky.
Thanks for the compliments. We sanded the absolute best we could, but the long and short of it is simply that neither one of us are professional body work guys so we did our absolute best. Is it wavy? Yes (a little), but like I said in the original post, this was the very first time we had ever attempted something of this magnitude. We learned so much by actually doing it, that I think our subsequent attempts will be even better. Practice makes perfect right?!?! We knew the learning curve would be steep, but I think we hit a homerun with this one.

Those look great. About how much did it cost to build that? Would you build another? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
HAHA!! I think we have something like $70-80 bucks in materials in each box. Fiberglass stuff is expensive when you're new to the game and don't know that the internet is 10 times cheaper than Home Depot. We would definitely build another, not a problem. The only thing that we would ask is that the person definitely not put a time stamp on the project because this kind of work is extremely tedious. It wouldn't be nearly as tedious if you were to simply cover the box with vinyl or carpet, but when you're painting the box, the imperfections will absolute show.

Nice job guys, good one for your first time glassing.

Was looking to doing something similar on the front of my box. Good to see it. Prob wouldn't protrube mine out so much.

Great work none the less.

the enclosures look great specially for a first time fiberglass'ers. shit even if you wheren't a first timer, it looks great.

just a bit of a pointer for the next time you glass, to make sanding easier and better looking, specially for large panels like those, is best to get a large flexible sanding block. where you can stick a large piece of sand paper or a couple small ones and use that large surface to sand the panel, that will provide you with a nice even sanding surface and the end result wont have any waves at all. rather then using the smaller pads for sanding.

obviously the more fiberglass work you do the faster you're going to do it and the better overall results you'll have.

again great job guys. keep it up.

Great job. The yellow looks too bright though, the silver looks fine matching the car but yellows soo bright. The box looks **** good, I like how it sits flush back in the trunk. What's the reason you guys flared out the subwoofer? Anyhow figured u guys were using same box, minus well go with same sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Nice job.
