For some reason my dad has this crazy idea in his head that this amp is a 2-channel amplifier all because there are 2 terminals for speakers (+ -) (+ -). He also seems to think that if it is wired to one ohm and and there are 2 subs wired in parrallel, then they will each recieve the full 2500 watts. I keep telling him he is wrong but he wont believe me, so I'm just trying to clear things up on here. 2 subs can't both recieve the 2500 watts from this amp at 1ohm can they? And also please explain why there are 2 speaker terminals if its only one channel. thanks!

No, it does 2500w, and only 2500w... If it were to be 2500 per speaker then it would be a 5000w amplifier, and would kill any electrical system you probably have....

As for the terminals, there are two because they are bridged in parallel internally. It is essentialy a monoblock amplifier, but the two channels are just to simplify wiring multiple drivers.

technically it is a 5000 watt amplifier //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

well good to kno this thing can put out some power, I will be using it to power a 15" '06 XXX once they are released. I will actually have 2 15's sometime over the summer I'll be picking up another Orion 2500d.

Just because my dad got confused on how an amp works doesnt mean he is an idiot and needs to be neutered. You might have been kidding but still uncalled for.

But thanks for clearing things up so now he will finally believe me once I show him this.

BTW, how many amps (HO ALT) would I need to power 2 of these amps, since in the end that is my ultimate goal, I was thinking I would prob go with a 275 or somewhere round there.
