ordered a new box! is it any good?

i have a jl13w7 in a sealed box sounds ok but i want that loud, rumbling, windshield shaking bass. i have a 06 trailblazer and saw this box on ebay for a great price. was wondering if this was a good choice besides building my own or having one built.

Having a custom built box will assuredly be a better option then buying one from a retailer. It is taylored to your vehicle and your expectations (clean sound).

The simple fact that the seller did not mention the tuning frequency on the enclosure is a bit of a red flag.

"The vented port is tuned to a set frequency range so bass notes within that range have much more impact per note increasing the overall BOOM per watt."

I really hate to be that guy... I bought a budget box when I started to.

That box is now a foot stool and will be garbage soon.

I do hope that the box works out for you. You should have a loud SPL output that is what max produced boxes usually have.

Starr mountain sound did a great job on my enclosure, if you decide later on to get a custom one.

Why spend all of that money on a woofer, and skimp on what you put it in? No. Have an enclosure designed by one of the pro's on here. You won't regret it.

I don't see how the seller is marketing ported boxes w/o telling what they are tuned for... especially if they are made for a specific sub.

I really don't want to be mean to people who ask about enclosures and go with mass produced boxes and tell them why they are not so great.

You cannot have that fine a$$ sound without that fine a$$ bass... plain and simple

it really is just a temp box. im going to be getting another w7 and another 1000/1 will do custom enclosure and amp rack then. prob fiberglass. just wondering if this will be better for now than the prefab sealed box its in now.

It will be louder, it probably won't sound as good...

It will be here tomorrow. I was thinking it was awful cheap but it's only 70 bucks. If it is not as good as the box it's in .oh well. It does seem like its a good built box but I won't know until it gets here.

Dead on correct. The output in a sealed box will be limited, but fairly even. If the Ebay box is tuned to 35, that's not too bad, but will still be much peakier than a sealed enclosure, although it will be much louder than the sealed box in the 40 to 50 hz range.
