Once I find someone to jump start me, will it be good after charging up for a while from the alt? its only about a year old, theres no way its shot already

The one time in five years with my current YT that I couldn't start was when I had left a cell phone charger on it for three weeks when I was out of town...jumped it and haven't had a problem since, that was probably two years ago.

I'm sold on the deep cycle/AGM idea.

i would use a battery charger to charge the battery, When i used to work at my local Alternator/starter shop we had a customer bring in an older GM CS-130 (not the Delphi model).

It had nearly melted from being overheated trying to charge a dead battery. He was lucky to have destroyed the brushes and slip rings before it had damaged his car. The owner of the alternator shop told him to bring in his battery so we could charge it before he destroyed the replacement alternator.

The week I installed my Yellow Top, I left the headlights on 3 times. Those batteries are a little hard to jump, but once it's started, they do charge right back up.

BTW, I did finally install a headlight buzzer, so now that's not a problem.

i wouldnt say its impossible that its shot. we tried to buy 2 YT's for my girlfriends car and the first one wouldnt hold a charge and the second one was shot after about 1 yr 3 months.

i have also read alot of articles online of YT's dying after roughly a years use.

Deep cycle has nothing to do with whether or not your battery would be dead when you returned to school. It does however mean the battery being drained, and consequently recharged by you, will not hurt it.
You either left something on in the vehicle, or you have a short somewhere. That's no fault of the battery, deep cycle or not.
