optima dead...

The YT is a deep cycle...It should be able to completely discharge then recharge and hold a charge.
Unless they have a short or bad cell //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif...

Also, check to see if the optima is still under the free-replacement warranty...

A while back I got 4 optimas from a guy who was using them in a truck with hydraulics. He said they were all junk and just gave them to me. I took them to the local auto part store and had them tested and they all tested bad. The guy said that sometimes though if you put them on a really high charge for a couple hours you can save them sometimes. I think he had them set to charge as if you were jump starting a car. Two out of the four ended up working and lasted me a couple years. I'd be careful though because the battery can get extremely hot by doing this and has the possibility of blowing. But it's an option and you could get lucky. Just my experience for what it's worth.

Learn about batteries before you give useless info. A deep cycle is 80% of capacity, which in a 12v battery is 10.5v. Any voltage lower than that is very harmful to the battery. And it is only safe to deep cycle a battery when you charge them immediately after the deep cycle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

When a battery sits in a discharged state, lead sulfate covers the plates. When that lead sulfate is left to sit on the plates for a few days, it begins to harden. Once it forms into a crystal structure (less than a week usually) the battery will not be able to produce a charge on that part of the plate that is covered by lead sulfate crystals.

So basically your battery that used to be able to produce a 13.0v charge may only be able to produce 11.0v now that portions of the plates are unusable now.
