optima batteries

Red Tops are starting batteries, and Yellow tops are deep cycle.

You would use the Red Top as the main battery to start the engine, and a Yellow top for a dedicated stereo battery.

unless u want to listen to ur stereo w/ engine not running there is no real use for upgrading ur battery..upgrade alt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

An upgraded alt with a stock battery doesn't do too much...

I don't even think it's worth upgrading my alt, im only running a 500 watt amp and a 1000 watt amp. even if i did need to, i don't know if i could find one for my car or where i would have it installed. maybe i should just get a new battery and upgrade alt wiring. and i might play system without car being on sometime.

The upgraded alt wires wont do anything for a stock alt...

umm.... 1500 watts isnt "little". If your going to play your system w/ car off get a yellow top. I have a question... If I get a 200 amp alternator, shouldnt I get a red top to replace the stock battery? (I will be running 1500 watts)

While the engine is running, the only time power should be pulled off the battery is when there is a very deep, heavy bass note (basically when the amps actually put out close to 1500 watts), Other than that the battery should only be used to start the engine. If your alternator is up to snuff, upgrading your battery will do little to nothing.

i was also told that upgrading just the battery was not enough but i did not listen and i upgraded my diehard gold battery with a red top and BANG the red top would not go down below 12.5 volts during normal play (the diehard droped down to 11 volts real fast) and it charged hella faster than the diehard.iwas also told to get a 200amp alt for my car but since i couldent aford it i went and got just a 160 alt to push my 4 amps(one is a jbl 1200.1)and my amps play great, the lowest the voltage will drop is to 12.5 volts and thats on real hard bass notes and it stays at 14volts at normal play

so the redtop is for starting and yellow top is for audio system? If I wanted to get rid of my stock battery I couldn't just replace it with a yellow top? I would have to buy both the red top and yellow top?

You could Add both a Red and Yellow top, But that would also require a battery isolator to stop the stereo from drainingthe start battery and starting off the stereo battery.

I would suggest getting a redtop battery if you only want something better than stock.
