I was at the auto part store the other day and I was talking to one of the guys and he told me that your not supposed to use a double cell yellow top batt for your main batt source. He said it s only for a second batt.I never heard of this and was wondering if any of u have ever heard this???

Ive heard that too. I think the yellow top is more of a deep cycle battery. I could be wrong. But Most people run the Optima Red under the hood and second and third batteries are yellows

^^^You did have one SLIGHT issue //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Users fault though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Personally I run a red top...

The issue is with temperature and cycle duty. Reds can stand the high heat better, and can deliver current at low depths of discharge. The yellow is a deep cycle, but still works great for starting in most applications. If I were going to have more than one batt, I would prefer they all be the same, so if you plan to run other yellows in the back then chances are you would be better off to run a yellow up front. The yellows are much better for delivering current to amplifiers... in spl tests the yellow and blue tops beat the socks off the redtop.

you can use either but the Red is more for starting, the Yellow more for accessories

i just got a Red today for $105 at Costco

see how it does, if not, Costco never questions
