Opinion needed: Do I Need New Alternator?

Hey, I have a question for those of you with a little more knowledge than me. I recently blew an alternator when I hooked up my audio system. A little background: I have a 98' Honda Accord and my system is not too big- 1200w amp with two 12's. However, I know now that I need something other than my stock alternator to power it. I already replaced the stock alternator but should I go ahead and get a custom made alternator. I got a quote for a 200 amp. alternator but I want to make sure there is not a cheaper option. no...is that the electrical wiring and....I really don't know what it is.
