A question for you guys.....

I will be getting a 96 eclipse GST and I will be fixing it up and upgrading the battery and alternator and want to put a kick *** system in it. I was thinking 4 type R 12 inch subs with type R component in the front and the coaxl in the back, I am not sure what size is stock in an eclipse. I also want to get an Alpine CDA-9833. My question is , is that a good system for that car? Also what amps should I get for the subs that will give each sub 500 watts? What amp what be good for the speakers also?

that system would sound very good and be stupid loud if installed/ powered properly. if you purchased those speakers/subs how much moneu do you have left for amps/wires/etc? need to know a budget to work within.

DAAAAAAAAAMN 4 12 inch type r's. That will be crazy loud. I just got my installed and I love it. I haven't event cranked it yet i'm giving it some time to break in and it still bumps. I have 1 12 in a ported box. Yeah all your stuff sounds good and look to buy off internet much cheaper than best buy or any other store would be. My one 12 takes up almost my whole trunk:mad:

I just checked and the stock facotry size of the speakers in the eclipse from alipne.com is 5.25 in the front and 6X9 in the back. What amps would power the 4 subs and these speakers?

Edit: Alpine doesnt make 5.25 speakers in type R but what about these? Its the X speakers.

You can do a lot better than type R's for that kind of cash.

They have a decent sound, but they're way less efficient than a lot of other brands, and that bumps the price of your system way up, to try to power them.

They need about 1.75 ft net each to port em, and have a good 3-5 dB less (that means they need 2-3 times the power) than something like an ID, JL, or the like.

If you want to stay with a Japanese branded sub, check out the Pioneer SPL-3004.

I just built one in their recommended bandpass box, and it's freakin loud and low! 1 would easily keep up with 2 or 3 type R's, in 1/2 the space.....4 would make ya puke.

I would say in an eclipse you could just put a 15" (I wont list all the intials look around for the subs ) ported in the trunk and get plenty loud from something like 500~1000 wrms in the trunk and be more than plenty loud.

I gotta find specs on the trunk but here is a pic of the car with 2 10" MBquart

I think two 15s would fit, how would this compare to 4 type Rs. I know the Rs would sound better because of more area but would it at least be close? Also back to my orginal question what amps would power either the 2 15" X or 4 12" rs? Also what size alternator should I get?

10k to spend in a hatch, hmmm.

amps...either us amps or zapco

subs...2 12" jl w6

comps...u have to decide what sounds good to you.

thats where i would start!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I was looking at those f1 speakers right now and I have a question the speakers they suggest are 50 watt rms but the amp they recommend for those gives 200 watts x 4 at 14.4 v at 4 ohms. Why do I need that big of an amp for those speakers. also how do F1 comapre to everything else? I was also debating either Jl or ALpine, where would 2 15 ich Xs fall into?
