No, I can't, but I'm sure someone can. How I understand it, though, is when it's all shut up you have waves cancelling eachother out. With the door open, you get less cancellation, therefore more spl.
oddly enough i have an article specifically on this from some car audio magazine (not CAE).
simply put you've got a box inside a box. the box for the woofer is playing into a small space. its possible that opening the door will allow for more pressure to build up for the same reason a port on the box works.
