One SA-8 enough?

Want a cheap alternitive get a Lanzar MAX8, For 30 bucks you can run it in a small sealed enclosure or ported if you must, It will suprise the hell out of you for a 30 dollar driver.

I recently swapped out my 4 E8's after 3 years (one got a burnt lead) and while I am waiting for V2 parts I picked up 4 Lanzar MAX8's for 116.00 shipped and put them in my same enclosure.

Though they are not as loud as the E8 but they keep right up with them, I dont normally push product unless I know for a fact it is good but for 30 bucks you will not find a driver that would keep up let alone be as quality as these MAX8's are hell even in the upper 60-70 dollar range they would keep up.

Not bashing on Sundown at all as I ran my e8's and loved the hell out of the lil guy's, and would buy them again and I plan on getting V2's.

Just tossing out another alternitive for you.

I honestly for 100$ on the sub I wouldnt buy used my freinds gf has 2 kicker 12in comps in a sealed box shes got 100$ for the pair new of sonicelectronix with a rockford fosgate 200w punch amp, with a knukonceptz 8 gauge amp kit, with a alpine deck it sounds very clean and is not overly loud.
Thanks man- but certainly not a kicker fan //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and that's WAY too much box and weight for the situation //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

And Phoenix:

Really 0.6? I haven't been able to find box specs (haven't looked too hard yet) but that's how much the E8 needs lol. A box that size would be great.

He even said in his first post that he was thinking about running a sundown sub. No one is getting a boner here at all. I dont even own any sundown equipment, yet I still know they are a great company.
Can you explain why their products are good without going into other people here liking them or Jacob being a good guy? (And I am NOT saying that he's not a good guy or that his products are bad)

OP: If you want the SA-8 then go ahead and get it. It is a subwoofer. It will make bass. I do believe the Dayton will be better, and that 6dB of sensitivity is about equivalent to running 4x the power, and it will sound better (in the "more accurate reproduction" sense) due to the lower distortion motor. But will you hear a sound quality improvement? Who knows.

Because like everyone else, you are going by what people say about them

I agree. Don't get sucked into the sa is god thing. Get a Tc epic 8 they are priced well and will outperform

Any drivers mentioned in this thread

I read several reviews and they all said that the dayton blended beautifully with the music... but they all said the output was not too impressive and im a little worrried about that.

Can you tell me about the difference between the HO and HF good sir? I thought I understood but now I'm confused. One is designed for sealed, one for ported?

especially when "overpowering" the sa-8 the small box size works very well. i wouldnt put it in more than .75, but if that amp does what you said it was clamped at then a slightly smaller box wouldnt hurt. just make sure you give it enough port area to actually let it move.

and im not suggesting the sa-8 because i think its like god except that it exists, or that i think jacob is a good guy. ive had experience with the sub on a few occasions and have see the kind of abuse that they can take.

we have made 2 of them hit 143 at 40hz on right around 1500, and i personally like the sub, not saying they are the best but thats just what i have used and dont like to suggest things i havnt had my hands on.

the epic does look really good on paper, but i would want to hear it in person before i suggest it to anyone.

I have had experience with the sa-8 on many occassions always sound amazing to me and many others. As far as the while sq thing goes research the focal utopias and then research the dd w6.5's and dragonage let me know what you think cause I have a few peoples opinion that the dd's in my application spank those as well as the Hertz line of mids and those were in sq guys cars. But by their specs you would say they are god over my mids.

This is what initially turned me on to the SA-8; I am always paranoid of damaging my sub and everything I've read indicates you can beat on these all day and they'll thank you kindly for it. We'll see if it works out for this application... Money is an issue - this was not budgeted for! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Went to Jo-Ann fabrics and saw this:

Thinkin I might "carpet" her box with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Would you guess she likes cats?

Dayton RSS265HO-4 Sd=349.7cm^2, Xmax=12.3mm peak, Vd=0.43L

TC Sounds Epic 8 Sd=167.6cm^2, Xmax=22.9mm peak, Vd=0.38L

Sundown SA-8 Sd=167cm^2, Xmax=16.5mm peak, Vd=0.28L

RSS265 displaces significantly more, and handles 600WRMS. Everyone in this thread simply has a boner for Sundown. The difference between the HO and the HF is the intended box. HO is for a smaller box. Go for RSS265HO-4.

I would also take the Epic over Sundown. The Dayton will beat them both in sound quality, and because it's a 10", it will beat both in output.

Thank you very much dragon.

All of this is highly dependent on money... You might see another thread soon asking about 10s under 100, 90, 80... lol... As I look into finances more it becomes clearer how tight-budget this is going to have to be.
