One or two subs?

Having one sub that sounds good and gets loud is always impressive. I started out running dual 12's and I've been running one sub setups for the past two years, but I think I'm back into running two subs now. I like how even two cheap 12's just has that fuller sound.

doubling the number of drivers but halfing the power to each yields a 3dB increase

1 12 with 400 watts = +0

2 12s with 400 watts (shared) = +3

2 12s with 800 watts (shared) = + 6

with 400 rms, I would go with one sub. If you get a pair, each will only see 200, IMO that is kind of on the low side. Listener/Install dependent as always.
I remember back when I was like 9 and my brother and his friend installed a pair of 12's in his friend's I-ROC commaro. 200w total to them biches and he the loudest around.

100% in theory. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
