one L5 moving alot more than the other

A few minutes ago I got into my car and I thought the bass sounded a little different. So I popped the trunk and noticed the the L5 on the passenger side was moving ALOT more than the one on the driver side. What would cause this? They are hooked up to a hifonics bx1605d amp. The last time I had my trunk open I am pretty sure they were moving equally.

Dont really think this could have anything to do with this prolly just a coinsidence but all of my mids and highs on my driver said stopped working. First it was my back 6x9 to go, then my door speaker, then my mtx tweeter. Everything on the passenger side works though.

I hope not. I have only had the subs for about 2 months.

sounds like the VC on the one moving less is either about to go or one of the two burnt out.

How are they wired?

Parallel

They are both dual 4 ohm.

Running them at 1 ohm.

Pull the one that isnt moving out and check the coils for consistancy with a DMM.

what else might it be? and if it is the voice coil how much do you think it would cost to get it fixed?

Its 12 guage speaker wire. Not sure on the brand.

i had some homeaudio spker wires they sucked, when i switched to fosgate wire the sound changed drastically

I really hope that is what it is. Would the woofer still be moving though? Because its still moving just not near as much as the other one.

Stupid questin but by DMM you mean the meters that measure ohm, ac voltage and all that good stuff correct?

If so how do I go about checking the coils?

pull each woofer out, check wiring to make sure one lead did not come un-done...

Do I need to pull both of them out and check or just the one that is not working completely?
