one amp or two?

I have 2 dual 4 ohm voice coil subs...now heres the real question what would be better running one mono amp at 1 ohm lets say its 1200 watts or should I run 2 mono amps at a 2 ohm load saying there 600 watts? any help would be greatly appriciated.

you would put less stress on the 2 amps running at 2 ohm than 1 amp at 1 ohm....might be cheaper to do just 1 amp...and less confusing with just 1 amp...i personally like just 1 big mono amp for subs...thanks

running one would be much simpler/cheaper and there would be no noticable difference in SQ or SPL given the same power....

if one could do the job why put two

one amp could do the job is cheaper and easier
