One 12 or two 10's.

I have an issue. I am looking to buy some subs for my car. But I have a limited amount of room. I am either going to go with two AQ 10's (600rms each) or one AQ 12 (600rms). I would be pushing the 10's with an AQ1200 or the 12 with a Hifonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D. Biggest the box could be is 4.66ft2 before any displacements.

Should I run the 10's with the AQ1200d or the single 12 with the Brutus?

I mainly listen to rap, would the two 10s be better for me?

Should i run two AQ12's with an AQ1200d??

Help asap would be nice, since there are sales going on. Thanks!

ps. ( I already have the AQ1200d)

I'd go with the two 10s over one 12, but I'd go with two 12s over two 10s.

Any reason why you wouldn't run the AQ with the single 12? I don't see why you would switch to the BRZ for no reason. Makes no sense if you already have the amp to switch to a crappier one.

AQ1200D >>>>>>>> Hifonics BRZ1200

Well because I have a system in my truck. The AQ1200d is pushing two 400rms 10's. So I would need to replace that sub amp in my truck anyways.

Is that enough room for two 12s? let alone two 10s?

Id run that AQ before that BRZ,and a pair of 10s rather than a single 12..2-10s in approx 2.0 cu ft tujned to 30-38htz would be my chioce @1ohm load on that AQ amp, should sound pretty nice man:boink:

You're better off with two 10s, or even a single 15

But i still dont understand what your reasoning for going to a crappier amp for the single sub though. You said you'd use the AQ if you got a pair of 10s, but if you got a single 12 you'd cheap out and the BRZ.

that's a pretty small box for two 10s

I'd do two SDC2.5-12-D4's ported in that airspace on the AQ1200D

Depends on the sub, and space you have, but everday box needs for my subs is perfect for the 1/2in spacing on ea side of my box.2.4 would be ideal for my subs, but ported from 1.2-2.6 for tens is ideal

AWWW so many options!!

1) two sdc2.5 10's with AQ 1200d

2) one sdc2.5 12 with AQ 1200d.

3) one hdc 12 with the AQ 1200d.

(the 15 won't fit in my trunk =(..)

I guess with any of those options, it was pretty much a unanimous decision to not run anything but an AQ1200d on AQ subs.

I was just worried that with the given space, there wouldn't be enough room for the two 10's.

I am leaning towards buying two SDC2.5 10's and using my AQ1200. But, now..will a 4 farad capacitor be enough??

thank for all the replies and Happy Thanksgiving!!

You don't need a capacitor. Just upgrade the big 3 and you'll be fine.

My 10s are in 3 cubes. I always thought 3 cubes was ideal for 10s
Nice@3cu ft.Yet, it really depends on the subs you are running, and tuned too to get the ultimate performance out of them.Ive benn running tens mainly for over 15 yrs, and anywhere from 1.4 up to 2.4/2.6 seems to always been ideal in my experiences and 30-38htz seems to always been pretty good

Battery, cables and alternator? Am I remembering correctly?

It's going in a 2000 528i, so I won't be able to do the work myself.. that is why I was leaning towards a capacitor for now. (cheaper)

A capacitor is not cheaper and won't really do you any good. It would be a big waste of money

The big 3 is upgrading the wire that goes from your battery negative to ground, your battery positive to alternator, and your engine block to ground. Just add on 0 guage wiring to these spots and you'll be good to go.

You'll be buying a giant paperweight if you buy that capacitor. Depending how big your factory alternator is, you may be able to get way without doing it.

Yeah true that. This is my first pair of ported 10s and they do amazing in 3 cubes at 30 hz
