on the verge, the premier 860MP

i like rear speakers personally....and privatley.

just seems like a more complete system to me, i had just a front stage for a while with no rear fill and i missed the the presence of rear speakers. thats just me, im no car audio nut, though i do want a nice sounding system, i just want it my way.

so then are the crossover functions on a head unit only used for those who go active? i mean, can't i just adjust all of the crossovers for all of my speakers on my amp?
By adjusting the crossover point and slope on a reciever like the 860 you are able to still make adjustments to your system, even after you have set the crossovers on your amps. You can adjust the volume at the crossover point, which helps you perfect the sound of your system as a whole.

You could always use the deck in pro mode. Then the front preouts become "HIGH" and the back preouts become "mid" and the sub is still for the subs. Then you have a pre out for each individual driver.
Pretty sure it isn't called pro mode on an 860, and I haven't stumbled upon this menu in mine yet... but anyway

The most you could T/A on an 860 is tweets and mids seperatly in the front and a sub, OR front mids/tweets together and rears and a sub (how it runs out of the box) I believe that an 889 is the same way. You CANNOT run time alignment and crossover point/slope adjustment on your tweets, mids, rears, and sub actively with either of those decks at the same time.

Yes, its called Network mode. Other than adjusting time alignment for mids, tweets and subs what else would you need?? I find it hard to believe you cant use the active crossover slope and adjustment and time alignment at the same time. I don't run my 860 in network(i've always used external processing) but I can't believe you would be without time alignment in network mode. Or are you trying to say something else.??

are there any decks that CAN do this? i'm putting in rear speakers for sure.

and on that note, if i have passive crossovers for my components, don't they block specific frequencies to each speaker? so i mean i could still adjust the tweets/mids pretty well even if they are both lumped together.

Adam, you can adjust the slopes t/a and what not in network mode

Billybrown, if you want to use the 860 to its highest potential you cant run rear speakers.

It will run normally with a front/rear and sub preout. You can T/A the front components in the regular mode.

I thought DiamondFanatic said you coudn't do that??//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

No what i said is that you cannot adjust slopes and t/a for front 2 way, rear and sub on an 860. You can do it for front 2 way and sub (no rear) or front rear and sub.

If you want to do active front 2 way, rear, and sub then you have to get a deck like a Clarion DXZ9255 (which I plan on upgrading to pretty soon) Or with a 9255 you can do front 3 way and sub.

Yes the Clarion DXZ9255 and Pioneer P9 can do front 2 way, rear and sub actively with T/A.

If you are using the passive crossovers for your components, then you can not run time alignment for the tweeters and mids independently, but rather you are running T/A for them both at once. If you are still planning on using passive crossovers for your fronts and rears, then you would be fine with an 860. Running active is when you ditch the passive crossovers and amp each of the components individually.

Didnt read the whole thread, but beware the ground trace problem that occurs frequently with the 860. Pioneer will usually fix it for free, but still a hassle, and an obvious design flaw.

BTW, I had an 860, and the adjustability WAS awesome on it. Could do pretty much anything you would want a deck to do. Only complaint I had was the fact that you couldnt turn off the internal amp, and it was a bit hard to navigate the menus while driving.

Different strokes for different folks. I have had NO problems with my 860 what so ever, NOT 1. I realize there have been problems but that was only one batch and it has been addressed and dealt with, atleast thats what the local Pioneer rep said. Other than that your guess is as good as mine. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I also have no problem with the menus while driving but then again I wouldn't mess with any menu in heavy traffic.

At least you got a Pioneer rep to acknowledge the problem. They acted like I was an isolated incident when I talked to them.

Oh well, gotta protect that product image, I guess.

Only h/u ive had that problem in was a DEH-P5500MP

My 9300 hasnt had that problem nor my friends 940mp.

I can navigate the menu no problem, you just need to get the hand of it.
