OMG you wouldn't believe it. Pyle Square 12's LOUD ported

Im older than you think, apparently. How old were you? How "vast" was your car audio knowledge then? Vast enough to regard Pyle as high quality... yeah.
It doesn't bother me if you think Pyle was good back then. Everyone is welcome to their opinion. Hell, some people think its good today. *shrug*
Hey man all I know is that pyle was a good mid range driver back in the day . Vast enough to know that they got loud and didn't cost a fortune to do so . Not the best but a hell of alot better quality than today . I'm pretty old...I'll be 37 in January . Dude this was 17 years ago lol

I realize how long ago it was, I was there. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Like I say, you are entitled to your opinion. Better than today? I dont know, there have been some decent improvement in speakers in general these past 2 decades. Even a high quality sub from those days would be considered meager by today's standards. But I haven't payed enough attention to... Pyle... to care to notice.

Pyle may have been crappy back then too, but it was

perceived by many (I was a noob then) to be geared

towards "higher-end" active crossover setups.

In fact in my noob state I probably looked at it as about

a notch lower than I see Dayton today. I know now that

Dayton is much higher quality than Pyle was.

Now A/D/S was the S-H-I-T!

Kinda late on the bump, but ****.

Okay, fire up your torches, I am ready for the flaming..

These Pyle Red Label sqaure subs aren't as bad as ya'll think.

I received 2 of the 12's as a partial payment on a $30 debt that was owed me. As soon as I saw them, I was already counting my losses. Then, I hooked em up.

They were in a small chambered sealed box when he dumped on me, so I tossed the shitpyles in the back of my work truck, (94 Explorer with cheap system) and wired them in. I was running an old Punch 500x2 amp from way back in my younger years.

Now for the funny part; they were actually clean sounding----NOT SQ material at all, but not as bad as most cheapo Chinese subs. So began a brainstorm that I had----a giant killer setup that would hide from most people's imagination.

I have ALOT of scrap MDF lying in my workshop from old cabinet projects. So, I decided to make a quick "box" for these subs to test, play with, and enjoy these $30 crapcakes. I tossed together a 9.5ft3 slot ported box tuned in about 38hz and laid em to the task.

Very suprisingly, these subs hit hard and LOW. Very nice results in the lower end of hearing range, running out around 27-29hz---but they play loud and clear up to 55 or so. Remember, I knew these were not SQ subs, but they would be nice for 30 bucks in my work truck. I was very impressed with them, so I decided to show em off.

After putting 2 12 L7's in a prefab junker to shame, the rest is where i got the giant-killer idea. I have an OLD OLD OLD USAmps HC50-the purple one. I ran the 2 Pyles out at 1 ohm, so my little 50 would hammer out more pep for them. It gets loud for the setup, and sound isn't awful by any means. People are absolutely amazed when they hear me coming into the lot, and they see a "50watt babyamp" and 2 Pyles.

This setup provided hours of smiles at retards who always thought with the pack, and never knew anything but "OMG 1337 Kicker/JL/Pioneer.

I am seriously considering entering the 0-100 watt open class at a local show this winter, as last years winner had 2 Lightning Audio 10's from Wal-Mart and a 12 dollar amp from same. I can only assume that I am around 145db at 45hz, but is solely a guess.

Dont everyone laugh all at once.

For $30 that I was never gonna get any other way than this, and a few hours of my precious time, I got some serious wang that is cheap and shocking.

No one else can lay claim to 30 bucks and 50 watts keeping you from lighting a blunt in an Explorer....

End of discussion from the FNG.

145 is a shitload harder than you think it is.

my single type R 12 hit 137.9 on music in a box tuned to 32hz, so 140 is not a stretch for (2) 12's, even Pyle. cheap subs can get just as loud as a quality sub, but can they get that loud without seeing magic smoke in a month, making them more expensive over the bigger picture.

You are bragging about it producing less than one octave of useable response?
The system unloading at 29hz is in no way 'hitting LOW'. I think you are confusing exagerrated response near tuning with actual low frequency response. A subwoofer system should produce alot of material below human hearing, contrary to what you seem to believe.

From your description, there's no way Id consider your sub setup as sounding musical, were I to listen to it. That may be solely to the box design, who knows. But if you are here to let us know a cheap Pyle sub bangs pretty hard in a high tuned box, we pretty much already knew that.
