heh.
i want it to be loud

i want it to have good sound quality

i want it to be moderately easy to install

i want it to have a significant amount of midbass

i want a two-way frontstage suggestion, 60/40 SQ/SPL

Lets call the budget somewhere around $600 max for just the speakers

Suggest any of the following

midrange

midbass

horns

ribbon tweets

traditional tweets

component sets

DIY comps

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Info section:

-Amplifiers

*Precision Power PCX4125 - 4x125w@4ohms, or 2x500w@4ohms

*Precision Power PCX440 - 4x40w@4ohms, or 2x160w@4ohms

(These are the amplifiers that I have, and I will need to keep these amps and not have to get anything else)

-Enclosures

*I can build kickpanels up to probably 0.3 or 0.35 cubes net (depending on driver size)

-EQ/Crossover

*After deciding on which speaker setup to go with, I will buy an EQ and/or Crossover to suit the speakers.

In order to generate some response, I'll mail out some cash to whoever suggests the product(s) that I end up buying.

PLEASE HELP!! !!!!

Thanks

Brian

Used ID CD-2 or Illusion CH-1 horns

RE XXX mids

I'm currently running AC G2Si ribbons.

It's relatively loud, but my CH-1 horns ***** them in volume. However, the horns were harder to tune.

Interesting... and how did the horns sound when compared to a traditional component set tweeter?

Horns practically have infinite volume (considering you'll never reach their max volume or you'd be deaf). They get incredibly loud while still staying clear as hell. Imaging is easier than a conventional tweeter also.

I was using the Illusion CH-1 fullbodies. I had them in for a couple months, sold them because I got tired of the lack of footspace resulting from installing them. MAKE SURE you have the space to fit them. I was giving them ~25w from my DLS A5, which is plenty of power for them. Crossed over at 2khz, 24db/oct slope I think. I just used the EQ/xovers on my HU, which is ehhh. Highly recommended that you get a 30band EQ if you want to do horns, and an RTA too. Squeak can give you a lot more info about them as he ran a set also. req has the ID horns IIRC, so you can ask him about those (which used to belong to audiolife I believe, so you can ask him about them)

duuuude thanks for the lengthy response... though...

i wanted to keep it simple... and i wanted to keep the amps that i have

with my old car it took up SO MUCH time and i hacked up the door panels (regretted it) and spent a lot of time perfecting crap that i made imperfect while doing the installation....

i would like to keep the amps i have and glass up a pair of kicks and install a set of tweets or horns or something somewhere for highs and call it a day

Pssst...he wants a Two way setup. He is also keeping his existing amplifiers.

But personally, I would put them in a bandpass tuned to 40hz with 2500 orion watts. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
