My father had a '89 2.9L 5spd with the electronic 4x4. Those engines are weak as hell and notorious for cracking the cylinder heads. The electronic 4x4 controls were always f'in up.

The auto transmissions are pretty shitty too. Two buddies of mine had ones with the auto ***** and holy shit were they dogs. Their's also had the manual hubs which were another huge PITA.

I would never own one.
