Oldschool Bronco II...Baby Bronc .....Any info ?

Well I may of found a neat mud buggy or SPL vehicle...I found a mint 89 Bronco II 4wd it has less than 85,000 miles and fully loaded...price is a lil steep at $2500 and I'm trying to find out if anyone has had any experience with these suv's ?

I had an 88 model as a kid and loved it. Had 2 15" M&M Godfathers in the cargo area and BMI components in the front.

They have very little power, as far as speed and whatnot, but they do well offroad. I don't think $2500 is out of the question if it's in good shape...

its an auto I think...manual hubs and most likely a 2.9 V6 being an 89...a 4.0 with 5spd manual would be very tempting

Mine was an automatic with locking hubs, and I'm pretty sure it had the 2.9 too. Being an 88, it didn't have the wrap around headlights, though. I'm pretty sure that started in 89 or 90. It was pretty nice for the time, man. It even had cruise control, power windows and power door locks. The interior was red. Even the doors had red fabric on them. The system was pretty great for the period too.

The M&M subs were in a big sealed enclosure that was upholstered in the same red material that covered the seats. The BMI mids were installed in the front doors, which wasn't a factory location, and the tweets were in the stock dash location. I had a nice Alpine amp on the Godfathers and I can't remember what was powering the BMI's (long time ago, man).

It also had a 3" lift, bullet hole wheels (even on the tire swing), Mikey Thompson tires, GTS head/taillight covers & window visors and 5% tint all around. When my dad bought it, it was red & white two tone, but I did the prep work and he had it painted fire engine red. He also had the guy at the body shop paint the grill and bumpers black.

When he passed it down to me I drove the living piss out of it. Damn, I loved that vehicle. Wish I at least had a few pics of it. It was pimp status back in the day.

I was looking at a dash pic its def an auto *****...the one I'm looking at is two tone..midnight blue upper and lower...grey color in the middle and blue interior ...I haven't seen it in person yet...but I'm gonna try and look at it tomorrow,,,hes wanting 2500 but I'm hoping if its really nice to get it for $2000

Good luck with it, man. They have a lot of potential. You have the option of building it into a badass offroad rig, and there's the mini truck route too. I've seen more than a couple of them slammed on the ground over the years.

I wouldn't mind having another Bronco II myself, but I've been thinking of building a mid 90s full size Bronc lately too. I'd like to do that first, because I've never had one of them...

I'm curious to how it would do at car audio shows...I'm not sure if the rear seat folds flat...or is removable by latches

I think the Bronco II would get loud. I had the two 15"s in a sealed enclosure on maybe 500 watts and it was impressive. With today's massive amplifiers and power hungry subwoofers, I'd say it could get obscene. The cabin isn't very big either.

The rear seats will lay flat if you have the front seats slid up quite a bit. The rear seat bottoms fold up (toward the front seats) and the backs lay forward. If you're willing to give up leg room, they'll lay flat (if memory serves)...

Straight V6s aren't huge, man. The Ford Inline 300 6 is pretty small, but it's tough. It has decent power and will run forever...
