Soundstream apparently had a problem with their old Reference line of amps overheating, and issued a serial number ID denoting which series of amps released were prone to that problem.

Does anyone know what the serial ID was for those amps when that was going on?

i never heard of the id's, but ive heard of the problems, ive owned every reference amp and still have some and none ever failed on me. the heat was caused by people running them lower than advertised loads, even though they are .5 stable, it doesnt mean that this is the best load to run them at, they will produce alot of heat and shut off that low, proper ventalation is a must and maybe a fan, soundstream made one that would fit in the reference case and they are still available, pm me if needed
