Older 10w3's

My amp has been going out for awhile and so I decided I needed a new one. Got to lookin at my subs and decided to replace the foam. When I pulled my subs out the box, I saw they were both w3's but one was a 2ohm and one was a 6ohm. The 2 ohm is wired series at 4 ohm's and the 6 ohm is wired parallel at 3 ohm's. A complete speaker system was installed in the car when I bought it. The guy that owned the car before me and was also the first owner had it installed by shop and said he spent a good amount of money on the entire set up. Seems like the car audio shop probably just had these in stock and put them in so they didn't have to order more SMH. Anyways how big of a deal is it to run two different ohm speakers like this? I mean I have running them for a few years like and didn't notice anything and then the guy before me since he had it installed awhile back. Suggestions on an amp I should use to run these?

You didn't notice they were wrong because you don't know any better. You should not mix-match like that period! Pick one and build a proper ported box and likely you will get better performance than the pair mixmatched.

IIRC those don't need a lot of power and I really can't comment as to what a decent small amp is these days but if you post a budget someone else probably has some ideas for you.

Uh he said he didn't know.

That said I bet one of them is a w3 and the other is a w6.

Not a good idea to run both as their both totally diff impedances.

Provide pics if you can...of back of subs.

They are both 10w3. One is 10w3-d2 and the other is 10w3-d6 and both say 10w3 big on the back. I know this isn't the optimal way you would want your subs ran. I would like to know how bad is it actually tho. I mean I've had it this way for the few years I've had the car and then however the previous owner had it installed. They've always sound pretty well. No noticeable difference in sound between the 2. I'm just glad I'm not the one who paid for the whole set up, I would have lost my **** lol. The previous owner spent a pretty penny lol. The complete stereo installation is probably from 10 yrs ago but in its day it was really nice.

It would be pretty difficult trying to figure out the final impedance to match your amps output to put it to ya bluntly.

It would be a weird ohm load if I had to guess.

I also had the original 10w3 but later sold it. I also had an 8w3....dunno where that sucker disappeared to.

If I was you, I'd get rid of the d6 ohm sub and either find another matching same dual coil driver which is gonna be tough due to its age or sell off those subs and buy new ones.
