I have the opportunity to purchase this amp for $450 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190274767952&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123 What do you think of this amp. Im running a pair of Boston Acoustic 10" G5 series which are 450 whats RMS. I was going for the Boston GT28 amp which is basically designed for those subs, but I thought that was a good price for the Orion and I wanted a bigger amp for possible future upgrade and for the collection part of my "old school" collection.

Now,I wasnt to familar with OLD School orions except For the HCCA line.IS THIS A GOOD AMP? ALSO,I care more about sound quality then Mad bass...But mad bass is not a bad thing either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

From a scale of 1 to 10...10 being the best...what would you rate this amp in power-------and in sound quality...Thanks,any info would be appreciated.

Haven't seen the inside of this amp but I think it's related to the HCCA G4's. I worked on a 275G4 and I thought it was pretty good. Not an old-school in all old-school respects, as I would consider old-school back pre-1995 or so and I think this one is a later model than that however I could be wrong as I was not into audio for about 5-6 years 1995-2000 or so, when these were being produced, I just remember the old Orion SX and HCCA amps... and the original XTR's.

I agree with your definition of oldschool.Im not sure when these amps were made either. But in any respect,Im curious as if its a good buy for $450...never been rebuilt and still in great shape. I do know that its a class A/B amp.

They are nice amps. I wouldnt know on the price becasue i dont see too many forsale. I owned an xtr2150 wich is 600watts at 4 and it pounded. They are really nice amps. Id rate it a 8-9 myself.

You just got fvcked. You could of got a better amp foe that amount. and do a Google search on the seller, he is a ***. Trie to scam me and many others. Andy4879 and Justonemoreamp are both known to buy broken crap in good condition, fix it with low-quality parts/components, then resell it for a profit. Hope it works out for you.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, that's a nice amp but the price is pretty high and knowing what I know about the seller, I wouldn't have bought it.

I did a google search and only found a few....3 at best complaining and claiming he is a scammer.I need more proof that just a couple of people who got pissed off by a sour deal.I will take the amp and have it professionally evaluated and then go from their. If I find anything thats misleading,I will report to paypal/ebay.He claimed the amp has NEVER been rebuilt...original.A pro should be able to confirm at least if any "CHEAP" parts use that are not original components anyway

Even if they use the same parts, that's really not the point, the point is did they date-code match all the paralleled parts.... that's the difference between a good and really good repair shop... A really BAD repair shop doesn't replace all parts in parallel groups, and if they do they don't always used matching date code parts.... Some even use parts from different manufacturers in parallel groups... VERY VERY BAD idea.... The parts that were in it from the factory may have sucked, and a good repair shop can sub in better parts... That's the case with ALOT of the older amps... Original parts = ****... Newer parts = twice as good as originals....

Man that sux,cuz even if I take it to get evaluated,How will I know if they are a Good repair shop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif Im not literate in amp parts....man I hope it works good.

Nice amps, but not worth that price tag...

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif If I paid too much,I can live with that so long as it performs to the fullest. There is another amp thats being auctioned by another user and its upto $258 and still 1 day left and its MINT //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif I will be pissed if it goes for alot less. One thing thats good is we worked out a payment plan...so the extra coin is kinda like a finance charge lol

Be careful messing with eBay swine selling amps.... I have heard enough complaints, repaired enough amps that people purchased "working 100%" from eBay to know it's a BAAAD idea, at least most of the time....
