Ol' skool amps vs. New school amps

I used to be into this back in the early 90's cheater amp days, you know old RF Punch 45,75, PPI, Orion HCCA stuff. My how times have changed. I am looking to buy a new 4 channel amp for my Infinitty Kappa door jobs and wanting some experienced opinions. The new school stuff I am looking at is the new Kenwood Excelon X600F and the new Infinity Kappa 4. Also open to other suggestions asa well. I have heard good things about US Amps and Xtant as far SQ is concerned. Old school amps I am interested in is the Orion HCCA stuff that I currently have an oppurtunityto buy at a pretty good deal right now. I am sure this debate has been provoked before so whynot stir it up again. Laterz!

I Agree with Mass Car Audio. The HCCA stuff is still great, although not as efficient as the stuff out today. You can still run what you are familiar with from the early days. If you do new school, try Sundown Audio, Atomic, Xtant, US Amps, etc. They are all great brands. I missed many other brands and am sure that people will chime in as to their opinions about new school stuff.

I must say I checked out the Atomic stuff and the Sundown stuff and they both look good. The Atomic stuff looks like a great bang for buck. Would you buy this over the Kappa which cost twice as much? Is the new Alpine 4 channel stuff any good, I know it used to be.

I wouldn't recommend going with a 4 channel Alpine PDX unless you have some additional processing. Every PDX I ever heard tended to lack balls in the midbass area.

Xtant would be alright.Memphis audio also has quailty sounding 4 channel amps.Very crisp clear reproductions.

Another vote for Orion HCCAs here. My pair of HCCA 225 Digital Reference amplifiers showed up today. I bench tested them for function only and they work great.
