so i would like to go active i think. i drive a 2002 honda accord. i have a set of comps up front, 6x9's in the rear and a sub. i will have a nine.1 on the sub and two seperate nine.4 amps. (all amps made by Ed). i was thinking id go with either the eclipse 8454 or 8455. but my question is...

if i run the tweeters on channels 1&2 and the mids on 3&4 and the 6x9's on the other amp how will i do the rca's? like the front preout goes directly to the first 4ch. but what about the reaar preout? do i use a y cable? or does one set of speakers have to be run off the HU to keep from this happening? or do i need a different radio to have the tweeters, mids and rears active? someone who can take some time and dumb things down for me would help. i dont know too much but i am trying here so please help me out.

DOES ANY1 KNOW IF THE ECLIPSE 5303 IS ACTIVE OR NOT?

why? ive read that everyone says to get rid of the 6x9's but id like to keep them to be honest. i want anyone whos in my car in any seat to enjoy good sound....so please you guys help me out here

well honestly all the hype is whats making me want to try it. and from what i understand its like custom tuning for your actual car. why wouldnt i be able to go active if i want my rear speakers? i didnt read anywhere that going active means you cant have rear speakers...

To break it down simply...Active is for SQ, SQ=no rear speakers. Not the end all be all rule, but that's my explanation for you.

why do you want to go active?

hype. there's more capabilities and flexibility, but it means nothing when you don't/won't know what to do w/ the capabilities. It will also come with a lot of room for error that may lead to blown or damaged speakers.

nothing to jump into.

There are plenty of people on here that will say, "OMG i just went active and it sound so much better!", when in reality, it probably doesn't, since all they did was set their crossover points that might be very similar to the passive crossover they recently used...

i know it comes with a lot of room for error and everything but if i dont just go active how else will i ever learn? and whos to say i dont know SQ? its not something that can be learned or read online. im smart enough to know what sounds good and what doesnt. also SQ is different from person to person. i know there is WAY more time involved in going and tuning active but im up for the challenge. and still no1 has offered a helping hand or even tried to tell me how rear speakers kill SQ but yet when you search active threads and one guy even talks about having his 6x9's active...all im asking for here is a helping hand and some info and i can make my own decisions.

im not saying i know everything im just saying if everyone on here is trying to build their best system then why wouldnt someone trying to go active have a better response than this? so maybe there is someone thinking of going active also that wouldnt care dharing some info? just not james bang.

sounds like you think sq only deals with tonality... search imaging.

fortunately for you, i'll stop giving my input to this thread, since my replies aren't good enough for you.
