here is the box for my 18xxx. what do you guys think? net internal volume: 4.218 cubes. here are the questions i have (it's my first box).

1. The front face is 1.5 inches thick. is it okay to just glue two pieces of 3/4" MDF?

2. Are the braces thick enough? they are just going to be one piece of 3/4" MDF. is that strong enough?

3. Should I change anything? should I make it more rectgangular?

4. Does anyone know if the cutout should be 16.75"? I thoguht I read that somewhere.

5. The colored pic is the different sheets of MDF. top and bottom, left and right sides, and front (2) and back will be the same, that look ok?

thanks for the help, you guys rule.

here is the dimentions pic

doh, I can't get that dimensions pic big enough... i'll work on that in about an hour.

edit: my computer is wacky, i just refeshed it and it's normal size

what kind of volume are you losing because of your bracing?
Volume of braces is .1445 cubic feet for the both of them. the total volume is 4.58333. and i took a driver displacement of .25 (called RE for that one). soooo 4.58333 - .25 - .114 = 4.218. RE recommends 4.2.

put a brace from one brace to another and to the back wall in the middle
like a "T" shape? should I use MDF for that, or a square rod? I don't think that there is going to be enough room to go across the middle of the brace with the sub in there. i would have to put the crossbar like 4 inches from the back wall. think i should still do that?

I think all that bracing is a little excessive, it should be fine at it is. Those braces cover front to back and top to bottom, I see no issue.

And if you boners would have read his post, he said the front baffle will be 1.5" thick.
