Ok who is trying it

Wow you are a moron. Chemicals can be organic or inorganic.....If you had a real education you would know this from the class titled Organic chemistry
hey retard, I was merely correcting myself. So before you open your fat mouth to try and put me down, think a bit harder, and not try to nit pick something I comprehend and even corrected on my own. Especially considering I am a Chem major.

If you want to get into it, your the ****ing moron because you do not need to take orgo to know that you have synthetic and organic compounds. If it took organic chem for you to realize this then you should probably quit now.

This topic could easily go way in depth with the chemical forumulas and reaction involved in producing, storing, and bruning gasoline as well as acetone, but this is a car audio forum, not chem class you ***.

just because it is organic doesn't mean its not a chemical. Gas is an organic chemical as well.
and do you know what a solvent is? gas itself is a very popular solvent. And the most popular solvent of all is water, I don't see everyone up in arms about that.

It all depends on what the solute is
i was using chemical as a general term, not in the chemistry class terms. The general public referes often use chemical in the sense of synthetics. I realized it was wrong:crap: Its an organic chemical

As for solvents, if you would read what I said acetone breaks down then you would have saved us your water is a solvent, as is gas lesson. All solvents are not safe on all compounds, even water. So thank for that useless info

none of you see how much of a savings 10% is on mileage over the course of the entire vehicle industry would be? Don't you think that wold be marketed and highlighted? why would the car companies design their cars and base their numbers(which are higly marketed) on using gasoline without acetone? Because better gas mileage and performance would drive customers away hahaha?

The American auto industry has gone to shit, but they are keeping this milage booster secret because they like going bancrupt LOL ahahahhahahahahaha.

the formula of gasoline is always changing to accomodate for the cleanest burning, most effiecient product. Why the **** would they not add a supposedly "harmless" additive to boot mileage? Wouldn't the first or only gas company to sell mileage boosting gas(acetone added) bank record profits? Yes they would, but the oil companies hate money lol.........., they would never put out a product everyone would accept and purchase over the current gas. Heck they could even charge more, but they wouldn't want to do that right? ahhhaaa they want acetone a big conspiracy secret LOL

Use your little heads, you haven't found some big secret. Acetone is not used in the trillion dollar oil industry for a reason.

Oil will eventually run out, the oil conglomerates def want to use it all up in the most inefficient manner, to deplete limited supplies. YUP you all got it right LOL

Your car has rubber fuel lines/piston rings? cool //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I just found it amusing that you were so adamant about using the word SOLVENT, as if was some unique class of chemical. Defensive much?

Show me where I said any of those parts were rubber? I beilev I made a thing called a list, and didnt even begin with rubber. I also didnt even put rubber in the same catagory of car components hahaha. What are you making shit up for? Learn to read buddy.

Defensive?

Why would I not respond to someone whom quoted me and had their own ignorant response which twisted everything:confused: I was using the word SOLVENT because of what it implies hence the caps... reading comprehension is not your strong suite huh?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

acetone is a harsh chemical SOLVENT capable of eating through paint, rubber, plastic, ect. The components of your fuel pump, fuel lines, gaskets, piston rings, oil, and everything else will all be affected in some way since they were not desgined to run on chemical solvents.
Above you stated that acetone is a solvent that is capable of dissolving paint, rubber and plastic. Which is true in some cases.

However, you went on to imply that due to these properties Acetone will hurt metal car components such as piston rings and fuel lines. This assumption is simply not warranted. If anything the acetone will help clean these parts.

It is also not fair to refer to acetone as a "harsh solvent" simply because it is able to dissolve a select group of compounds. If we used this logic "water" could be labeled a harsh solvent because it can easily dissolve acids, salts, alcohols, etc...Solubility simply depends on the substrate (remember the adage "like dissolves like").

You even stated that cars were not designed to run on chemical solvents. Which again is simply false, in fact cars are designed to run on gasoline which is a common chemical solvent (also able to dissolve some plastics/paints like acetone).

Today people are so willing to add Ethanol to their gas despite the fact that it is more potentially damaging to engine components that Acetone. To each their own I suppose.

Please feel free to try and misinterpret my post, maybe it will cause you to learn a thing or two.

I just wish that next time you fully understand what you are writing about before you spout off views to others. But what can be expected when you have "with your mom" listed as your location. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

BTW...the word is "suit" not "suite"^ in your last post

i just saw a mythbusters episode on "boosting" mpg. They used magnets, a "super carb", hydrogen, and guess what else? *GASP* acetone. What did they find? None make it more efficient, and acetone actually LOWERS your MPGs.

IIRC, the original MPG at 35 mph was 17, and at 55 was 25.

With the acetone added (500:1) the MPG at 35 was 16.7, and at 55 was 24.

Hmmm....

I like how you take statments, separated by a thing called a period, which means they are completely different, and combine them. Then you call it bullshit from me, when in fact it is your own bull that you concocted, and argue against

I never said that acetone will hurt, or damage, metal components, or any word similar, in that statment. Yet again there you go misinterpreting and making shit up:laugh: But just to add; many/most fuel pumps have plastics in them and the use of plastics in automotive parts is always increasing.

Back to solvents..... FYI in the scientific community, and even at your local garage, acetone will be hands down considered a more aggressive (harsh) solvent than gasoline, nevermind water:laugh: and that is a FACT! The reason people argue acetone increases milage is becasue it is powerful enough to break up the surface tension of gasoline... hmmm but water keeps being mentioned in the same breath:crazy:

Ethanol is used becasue it boosts octane ratings, is renwable, is biodegradable, as well as a host of other reasons. Please do not compare the two because it's like your acetone to water comparison:laugh:

Your a clown twisting words to try and prove something a few rednecks tested in their driveway or garage, is a good idea. You grab info from morons, and even make up some of your own:laugh:. Then you provide quotes with bits and peices that don't go together at all, and proceed to argue against or for these ficticious statments.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Just like the majority of the clowns on this site you resort to and search for grammar on a car audio internet forum:laugh:. That is a sign of insecurity in the other statements provided;)

OH NO I put an extra "e"....That one hurt:laugh:.

So becasue I sleep with your mother I'm discredited?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

If acetone was a valuable/safe fuel additive it would have been introduced a long time ago. Get it through your head moron. Please tell me why everybody and every industry is not boosting gas mileage/effiencey by 10+%? instead of argueing your concocted, fake, statements. Let me guess, your one of those big conspiracy idiots?

do you have problems getting along with others in real life too? The only posts I ever see you make are insults or arguments.

not trying to be a smartass, im actually curious.

not at all,

I simply post the truth and people take offense. You have a guy twisting my words, connecting parts of sentences to make up his own bullshit, and worst of all defending acetone in your gas tank/engine:laugh:. Of course I am going to call him a moron. Especially since the guy isn't even defending a point with anything but some crap he made up himself, just to have something to argue against:laugh:
