OK, so I'm F*CKED! **** Destroyers...

Well I found out what is making the noise on the one Destroyer... Nothing was ever caught in the gap. The spider was flexing as it should but glue that holds the 4" coil to the spider is not made to flex and is cracking from nowhere near full excursion or even being pushed to its rms. It is almost broken free on one side and is letting the coil go SLIGHTLY off center. Both coils are fine and not blown, yet. It's started to darken the coil as well from rubbing and prolly excess heat. You cant even tell its cracked unless you push the cone outward to see the spider better. I'll post some pics in a min.

OK, so now it appears nothing is wrong with it at all lol. No more rub or anything... plays fine too. I don't get it - I guess the spider let the coil realign. You can still see where the glue is separating from the spider though. I wonder if I should worry about that or continue using them... Any opinions?

1.$1400 in subs should work very well for 12 months unless seriously abused (140+% rated power and a sine wave,or bad install / electrical).

2. if there is a problem you should defnately contact the builder / seller of the subs and discuss the situation with them BEFORE posting on a car audio forum and useing peoples names.( you wont make any friends doing that )

3. if there is a problem (that is not your fault) and the builder / seller is a good guy, they will make things right, (repair or replace) no-one stays in buisiness long if they dont handle their chit.

4.when you make a public mistake, a public appology is a great thing to do.

5.why custom 18s? surely theres a bunch of killer 18s out there some dik has no room for their trunk they realise after they recieve the thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif duh!?

6. this is not a spelin b, my english is dubious but i bump hard //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You're right, they should work perfect considering they were not put through any of those totures.

I have contacted the manufacturer / builder yesterday, and David was kind enough to send me tinsels, caps and other necessities.

Destroyers are known to fail where the spider and coil meet due to cutting a stock spider to accomodate the 4" coil.

Did I make a public mistake? You mean merely misunderstanding who physically hand built my subs? Or the mistaken coil rub symptom?

Custom 18"s because... just because. You can't go out and say you have the same shit as me, because nobody does.
