Well after spending $1450 to make the only 2 18" Destroyers, I realized today it was somewhat a waste. The one that I did get to hear for a while sounded great for a while until the tinsels blew the other day from slapping and slowly wearing down. It was in a 7.5 cuft box tuned to 32hz with the ssf set at 30 hz, powered by one of my Treo 3.1s at 2.8ohm with no bass boost on the amp or HU. Gain set with dmm to 1200rms. There is no way I over powered or drove either sub into clipping and my voltage is always above 14v. So yesterday I put the BNIB other Destroyer I had at home into the box. Upon listening closely today I heard some scratchy sound coming from the sub at low volumes. I figured it was gonna have the same problem as the other and the tinsels might be slapping the cone making the ugly sound. So I just took it outta the box to inspect it and noticed that the tinsels already begun wearing down as well as the spider. (I wish I had the sticky fuzzy things put on during the reconing process) After noticing the tinsels werent slapping while it was playing outta the box, I realized it was the coil ever so slightly rubbing. Neither coil is blown just a lil noisy. Now I'm scared to even use the sub, let alone hook it up to my 3.1 at .7 ohm like I planned, because I don't wanna blow it. I know I had these custon made and there is no warrantee - so to get to the point, I'M F*CKED! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif
