So i bought the Alpine IVA-W505 thinking that i'd hook it up to my H701 and eventually buy the NVE-p1 Navi unit and of course, all would be well...

Well now i come to find out that an additional item is needed and i have to buy it to get what i want......and i'm pretty pissed off about it!!!!!!!!

If you use an alpine deck via AI-NET cable to a processor AND want to use navi too, you need to buy the external unit KCE-900E in order to hear the turn-by-turn navi audio while listening to music or watching a movie. The AI-net cable does not pass the navi audio... how screwed up is that! I am so pissed that there was not one mention in any manual stating this...

Now I can understand why people are starting to hate Alpine... I've been an alpine fan for over 15 years and have only used Alpine HU's but COME ON!!!

Please, for the love of god, someone, tell me that i am completely wrong and I dont need to buy this extra unit to get the navi audio...

I'm honestly just in shock right now... I can't believe that i have to buy another device... Granted its only 79 bucks but its 79 extra dollars that I did not expect to have to pay...

Now i gotta search all over the place to try and find the best deal for it... If anyone know of anyone getting rid of a KCE-900E, please send them my way!

Well atleast Alpine didn't try and tell you that the replacement screen for your unit wouldn't be available until the end of next month...

Oh BTW. This fking thing has been broken since MAY 5th!

Jesus, that's getting old and wasn't very funny to begin with...Anyways, to the OP, you should just stick with what you have and spend the extra $79. If you try to just sell it all you're just going to be losing money on it and there really isn't any other double din/processor combo that you can get for a better price.

Yea, im gonna just go and spend the extra money on it. I was just pissed off when I got off the phone asking Alpine about a software update on the NVE-p1 and the guy was like "oh yea, if your using the h701 like you said you were, you need to also get the KCE-900e".....

oh and one more update... the guy from Alpine did say that later this month the NVE-p1 is getting a software update.... who knows if it will be at the end of this month but he did confirm there is definitely an update coming

I wouldn't hold my breath, you might die.

I've encountered numerous manufacturers of equipment & materials, and software, "promise" me an upgrade is coming. Almost never does it happen, especially after they have all the money they think they can extract from you.
