Ok I have put some speakers together for my 2001 grand prix. u prolly have read my previous post... so now I want you guy's opinion of the setup.

Now I know i would also need wiring of course. and a GM harness kit, and a dash kit... and amp.. few questions

1) I know nothing about amps.... if this was my setup.. what amp would u reccomend? please pick one out for me...

2)also what do you think of this setup? just a reminder i wanna be able to play my music as loud as i want without distortion, and without worry about blaring my speakers...almost to the point to where id maybe get pulled over, but not quite.. and I mainly listen to hardcorepunk/metal and other kinds of rock...

3)think i should get the 1200watt subs instead?

4) any other comments

also i know i can get the speakers somewhere else cheaper.. just was using them to pick out model numbers and such...and i know the alpine doesnt play CDs i go the Ipod route.

get a box from bonesninja. will be better quality and probably cheaper, and local. i love mine.

no need for 6x9 and 4" in the rear.

i had an x001 and and x100 w/ pxa-h100 and did not care for the sound either produced. i went back to my previous hu and sold them both. neither would work with my iphone 3g. the x305 is the only alpine that will work with the 3g 100% (per alpine), so they have made some improvements. you will still need the pxa-h100 if you want to do any tuning at all. it only comes with treb/bass adjustments.

asking someone to pick out you amps is like asking them to pick your car. everyone has likes and dislikes. stick to a quality name, get it to match the power you will need for your speakers (RMS, not MAX or PEAK), then pick a color and style you like. based on your needs you could get something like alpine pdx 5 channel and run it all from one amp, or you could buy sepreate 4ch and mono amps.

i would also suggest you invest a decent amount of cash into something like ss damp/pro or dynamat xtreme. i have spent as much money on that as i have any other single piece of equipment i own. more actually i think.

don't forget to set money aside for upgrading your wiring and wire to run to the amps and speakers. if you are spending all that money you should get quality products all the way around, like knu or kicker or stinger or etc, etc...

get bonesninja to build you a box, or if you dont mind paying for shipping, mobeious and bjfisher are some good options as well. You will get much better performance from a properly setup sub box.

x2 on the speakers too. Dont worry about the rearstage too much. I would focus on a strong front stage, than if you have extra money, get some rear fill.
