Oil down over $13 in 3 days.

The oil price drop is just a fluctuation from the drop in demand with people driving so much less nowadays. It will hit $5 before it gets below $4 again (Basing off Chicago suburb prices).
yelp, cause millions of people are now allowed to work from home 3 days a week and millions more are now walking to work the other two days. Yesterday there was a shortage/today "surprise we have a surplus".

gas has gone down .03 cents here with a drop of approx $10/barrel; however when the price of a barrel rises even a dollar we can expect to see an increase at the pump of .05-.07 cents. I know, i know capitalism at its best.

I will also say this; granted congress is dem lead; but the dems are not the only ones who do not want to open the gulf for drilling and open drilling in Alaska. What I really love seeing is that republican in congress are more and more inclined to go against Bush these days; but yet everyone only wants to say that it soley the dems fault. As Duece has pointed out to me, no body likes a hypocrite, but everyone on this fvckin board is hyprocitical to their opinion.

Of course everyone is against what Bush wants, he has proven himself time and time again as the worst president there is and more than likely will ever be. I guess I am unable to make your connections as to how everyone on this forum is a hypocrit but what ever you say.

Republicans are for drilling btw, at least the majority of them are, unfortunatly the majority of the senate is not republican. Although they have 33,000 square acres that have recently been approved for drilling unfortunatly the amount of oil in the areas are not what could be found in places like alaska

Yeah but it seems like if the price of oil goes up the next day gas goes up as well.
well over the past several months the oil has just kept going up so it has been hard to tell if it is a reaction to the current value or roughly ten days ago. Most of the time it appears to be the reaction in the market due to oil. The market reacts much more noticebly when the oil prices go down as to up

What can it hurt? Oil prices are based on futures. If you think that the anticipation of the future price of a commodity has no effect on it's current price, you do not understand commodities. How long will wind or solar take to make a dent, 10 or 20 years, then why do it?
I agree to an extent, we do need oil to help alleviate global demand pressures, however, we must also invest in alternatives at the same time. In the 70s when this happened people thought we needed to invest in alternatives, but once prices returned they forgot all about that, at this point we can't forget about it. I think there should be a 1 for 1 matching requirement, for every dollar spent to drill new oil a dollar has to be spent on research into alternatives, I think that is a fair compromise.
A 1 for 1 matching would be nice but where is that extra dollar gonna come from?
I agree though, we need to find a balance of further oil exploration along with alternative fuel research. I think if we drop the ball on either we will fail.
For the 1 for 1,the government could just take the tax they have on gas at the pump and split it 50-50,50 in their pockets 50 back into research. But prices will go up because now that msn did a report on it,Everyone will notice and we can't have that.
the "research" you all talk about is already being done; by who? The very same people we buy our gas from. So do you really think they will introduce a cheaper alternative to a product they all ready produce, they all ready sell. No, they will continue to reap the benefits of "expensing" their R&D; which increases their operating expenses which lowers their tax burden; then on top of that get even bigger tax breaks from their buddy Bush
