Ohm's

Alright, first off, I would like to apoligize for my lack of knowledge. I have done some research, but I literally know nothing. So I've decided that this early in my car audio career -- and before I make a costly mistake -- I should just simply ask people that actually know what they're talking about. With that said, I now bring you to the point of this post.

Now, I have made no real decisions. I understand Ohm's on a very simple level, which leads me to be a bit confused with mixing certain components. Say I buy 4ohm speakers for the front and for the back I get 2ohm ones. Now, I want an amp to power these . The amp I'm looking into is an Infinity that supplies 111x4 at 4ohms and 139x4 at 2ohms. Knowing that, what would happen to any of the components if I hooked it all up. Basically, will it be bad for the amp to power both 4ohm and 2ohm at the same time, the speakers? Is it even possible?

Once again, I'm sorry for my ignorance. Thanks in advance. Also, I also apoligize if this has already been gone over somewhere. I haven't tried looking around forums too much. I have done a lot of research, though, and I have learned a lot.

Yes it is possible. You could hook up your front components to channels 1 and 2 and the rear components to 3 and 4. The rear components would have more power on them but if you go by the amp gain setup in this forum and set your gains properly it will work just fine.

Also, as far as replacement speakers for vehicles (not subs)... the 2ohm variety fall into the slim and none category. There are very few companies who make a 2ohm full-range speaker/component... ID being one of them.

So, just worry about the speaker quality and the amp. They'll match up just fine.

Now, when you get into subwoofers.. you have a multitude of options.

Thanks everyone. This really makes me feel better about everything. It may be a couple of months before I dive into the world of subs, so I'm thinking about pre installing the kit for 2 amps. Anything wrong with that, either. Again, my basic understanding of electionics and etc leads me to believe that there isn't, but asking never hurts.. thanks again!.

If you do run two wires for the amps, make sure not to hook up the second positive wire. Don't want a positive flopping around in your trunk to spark n stuff.

Other than that, running multiple wires now should save you time later. I'd go bigger than not to save upgrading later.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you just run one single wire from the battery to the trunk (or where ever the amp(s) may be) and then split the the wire with a distribution block? If I ordered 4 gauge for the main run from the battery to the amps, would that be enough for one amp and then another one later on? If so, should I use 8 gauge from the block to the amps? Also, at first, could I run the Infinity off the 4 gauge? I know that the second amp I want is relevant to what I need. I want a good thump, something that I'll definitely notice. I'm looking into this:

I will need a 2 channel amp for that, right? (Sorry) Again, I want a good thump. I'm looking into a couple, but right now I'm just getting confused. Some have high wattage but are less expensive than ones with less watts. I know qaulity comes into play, but I'm just about dumb in the world of amps and etc.

I would like to order my wires individually. (I'm good with wires. I'm really into computers and etc. Anyone into watercooling here?) Also, picking that don't come in a set can prove far more better than a previous selected kit. Just my personal experience (water cooling kits for comps).

Also, I need to read up on fuses and etc. Will I need a different fuse at the beginning of the wire (one closest to the battery) for two amps than if I was just using one? Another question, will I need some kind of fuses off of the distribution block to use with the 8 gauge wire before they go to the amps?

Sorry, I must admit that I'm taking advantage of your kindness. On other forums, I probably would have been told to search more. Rest assured, I am. I quite literally knew nothing about one week ago. I like to think that I'm doing ok. Actually, I JUST installed my first ever car stereo about a week ago. If i were you id run a 0ga wire from the get go to a distro block in the trunk then 4 ga. to your amp/amps as afar as the fuse by the batt in the front run a "big" anl fuse up there.... as for your sub amp get a class d sub amp....as for that bandpass box you picked out i would really consider reading through the threads here more before you pick up something like that you would be more happy with buying some subs getting a box made (or building one yourself) to the exact sub specs then buying a amp to match the subs.... it will all come together just read through the threads and search......
