Ohms/Lights Dimming

Ok, my question is, right now i have my amp doin 600rms@4 ohms and have barely any light dimming. If i upgrade to 1200 rms @ 1 ohms will that increase dimming? The reason i ask is because 1200 rms @ 1 ohm amps are usually rated at less than 600 rms @ 4 ohms. All in all what i'm asking is, does 1 ohm have more of a drain on power than 4 ohms, or the other way around?

Jmac is right the lower the impedance the higher the power so more current draw

Ok, so if i do the big 3 with a 140 amp alt, will i be fine with a 1200 @1 ohm amp and 80x4@4 ohm amp?

SSS is correct, you will be fine. You may have some dimmage, especially at idle, but other than that there should be no problem what so ever.
