ohms and such

if the amps were 2 ohm mono stable then he could use them. the specs say they arent pushing that spec could result in blown amp or Sub.
looks like you needed dual 4 ohm.

sorry to say man but spending 200 on those amps each nowadays will get you a real nice orion 1200D for 425 brand new. and if you dont mind used you can get stuff even cheaper.

like maybe a hifonics BX1500D which should put out ~1200 at 12V and 1400-1500 at 14.4V //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
darn, i wish i knew more about systems when i bought the system i have now.

post your amps on here to try to sell them or see if someone local could buy them off you but other than that...
ill think about it, ill try to find someone in my school that knows nothing about systems and sell him my complete system for like 700 if i can. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

do you think one brahma 12" running the amp the other person mentioned woudl hit harder than the system i have now? it will be more watts...

........ yeah some salesman once sold me 2 10" kicker comps instead of 2 12" kicker comp VRS for the same price...... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif((((((((((((((((

Ill see if i can sell my subs and amps, and keep my wires. im not sure what gauge they are, but i think they should be alright with my new subs. (im guessing 4 gauge)

i looked a bit on ebay, and i could probably afford one 12" brahma from the manufacturer, and one hifonics BX1500D amp on ebay for 230.

my current subs are sealed, but i was planning on buying myself some mdf for christmas and making a ported enclosure for them.

i have bestbuy install my current setup, but would swapping out my two amps with the one amp be fairly easy? i would prbably just put the left over wire from the extra amp under the seat or something.

everything sounding o.k. so far?

4 gauge is on the thin side //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif don't have it up all the way all the time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif usually they have 4 Gauge to a distro block and 8 Guage to the amps. if this is the case then just take out the distro block and hook the 4 gauge straight to the amp. you may want to add an inline fuse right before the amp for added protection.

again without knowing the size and brand of your current setup we cant really tell you if its going to be louder.

also the Brahma is more of an SQ sub than SPL. if you want louder then you might want to look into the RE XXX or possibly SX which is actually louder than the XXX with the same amount of power.

thats great, i am looking for a sq sub. ill stop by bestbuy and ask what wire they installed.

so the wire that would need to be thicker would be from the amps to the battery?

my current setup is in one of the first few posts

2 mtx8302 amps

2 mtx 15" 8000 subs

kenwood head unit

just a general rule of thumb. 2 gauge. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hard to say you cant really compare a 12" brahma against 2 15" subs. i would say port them and then decide if you want more //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

theres a few orion 1200D on sell on the classifieds for 275. you should check them out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

whats the RMS on those MTX's?

500rms 1000 peak

so if i were to run the bx1500D amp, i should look into 2 gauge wire from my battery to amp, then what gauge wire from amp to sub?

you can run 14gauge speaker wire. or you can run 10 gauge power wire if you have any around. anything over 14 would be fine. as for the amp. its not as nice quality as the orions and such you should really check in the classifieds sometimes you can find really good deals.

i would keep the subs you have and port them low about 28Hz that should give you pretty good SQ while still getting some bump. and also look into a different amp than what you have now.

i was planning to tune the ports to 30hz, but ill try 28hz.

when i see a thread made about ported/sealed boxes, i see people say "i like sealed boxes, cause i like tight bass" does that mean when i port my box my subs will be loose and not as responsive?

20-30Hz SQ lower the better usually... unless your subs wont play any lower.

30-40Hz boom with some SQ

40-? SPL high boom but pretty much sounds like mud.

thats a fable the ported box will be more efficient and it will be tight if you design them right. if your subs are not SQ no reason to drop it to 20Hz. 28Hz should be about right in the middle.
