ohm question

here is what i think, it all depends on what type of system you have adn wht type of electrical system you have in your car. you can change the wiring sequence on your amp and ur subs to change performance which in fact is changing the value of ohms but if your speakers cannot handle it you might either blow ur speakers or blow your amp, when i first started foolign around with speakers i had 2 jbl 15"s 300 watts max 125 rms i was currently pushing them with a kenwood 600 watt 4 channel amp i bridged the connections to increase the ohms which gave me a better performance i changed the amp i pushed those speakers with a 2 channel 500 watt rockford fosgate amp and it blew both the speakers out the same day. it is always best to contact teh amnufacturer to get the proper specs adn suggested wriing and setup.!!!!!!!!!!!!

ohms are simply the amount of resistance which electricity will face when going through speakers

now lets say for instance you have a 2 svc subs that are 4 ohms a piece and you are pushing them with a 300x2 @ 4 ohms(400x2 @ 2 ohms) amp.

if you wire these in series your amp will see a 4 ohm load so each sub will recieve 300 watts however if you wire this same setup in parallel your amp will only see a 2 ohm load so each sub will recieve 400 watts.

this is just a basic overview it gets alot more fun when you have multiple dvc subs!!

actually, using the above amp as an example (400 x 2 @2 ohms) you would not be able to connect two 4 ohm subs in parallel to this amp unless it was 1 ohm stable bridged, which most amps are not. two 4 ohm subs wired in parallel would create a 2 ohm load for one channel only, not both channels. and i believe kingpin meant to say wiring these subs in "stereo" and not "series" your amp will see a 4ohm load.

we are all here to back each other up.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
