Ohm Difference

I want to get two L7 Kickers dual voice coil 12"s both 4 ohm and I already have a Orion HCCA D5000 mono amp. The amp is rated at 1600w rms at 2ohm and 2500w rms at 1ohm, 5000w max. The subs combined are 1500w rms and 3000w max. Question is what would be the difference if I wire them at 2ohms instead of 1ohm because 1600w rms should be enough to power those subs.

i had a l7 12 that i ran on a orion 2500d by itself they are power hungry wire them down to 1 ohm and call it a day bro

The difference? It doesn't really matter. You can't wire 2 dual 4 ohm speakers to 2 ohm. You can only wire them to 1 ohm or 4 ohm. Just set your gain properly and it won't matter.

I guess you might have more distortion (inaudible). You might have more heat as well but this amp is stable at 1ohm so it wont really matter as long as it is not cased in.
