To me they just sounded so tight and clean when I heard them back in the day.I agree with Imma, a bit over hyped these days. But still sweet old drivers none the less.
I point to posts like this when telling Polecat that Kicker really needs to release a new flag-ship round SQL driver. Calling these new square things they sell now a 'solobaric' is like naming the new model Impala.... nothing like the original design intent that made the name famous in the first place.
Yeah they are. Maybe the next meet you can take a listen.I can't tell from the pics, but are those the ones with the stitching between the cone and the surround. I've installed a pair for a buddy and they're alright..
Nope. I really enjoyed the tc-3000 and I even enjoy my MX a lot right now, but price, the available space, and the power to move these is what made me get them. By the way I talked the guy down to $250 on the auction. There's not much space in my small suv and I like clean tight bass with the ability to get loud. With the 2 solo's I just bought I can get as loud as the 1 15" MX or TC-3000 using the same space and less power. These subs have a lot of sentimental value for me as well. Is there a lot of subs out there that are better? I'm sure there is, but price, space, sound quality, and power to push them, I don't think there's many subs out there that are better for what I'm looking for and my application.you could not get other good woofers to sound like the kickers you herd, theres probably some install problems..
Yeah, I agree. I hope no one is thinking that I'm saying they're better at anything than any other subwoofer, I just have a soft spot for em. lol...I heard an avalanche and that was *** to my ears but I don't think I could fit 2 in my car ported and I never heard them sealed.Dont get me wrong, if you are wanting to build an 'old school' system, those are the perfect choice for subs. I agree they sounded very good, I always loved them when they were new. There are, however, newer speakers out that output more sound with less distortion, etc. And frequency response is more a product of the enclosure size/type/alignment than it necessarily is the raw speaker. Or lets say, 50/50. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Those old round solobarics will always be remembered to me not for their sq abilities, because yes even back then they had sq rivals (SS Exacts, Alumapro Alchemies, etc) but the round solo's were the first subs to really excel in super small enclosures. In fact, that was their big selling point when they first came out.
they're pretty good sealed. if you need another one at some point, i'll go to storage and dig it out. i think i have 2 of them in there somewhere.Yeah, I agree. If you have another 1 or 2, let me know. I should be able to fit atleast 3.they're pretty good sealed. if you need another one at some point, i'll go to storage and dig it out. i think i have 2 of them in there somewhere.
i'll check. won't be until my next day off. storage is a mess. i can't garuntee they aren't crushed. i'll let you know.If you have another 1 or 2, let me know. I should be able to fit atleast 3.
It could be all in my head as far as the sound goes. I haven't heard one in about 7 years...lol...But the setup was the whole reason I started with car audio in the first place. I'll try and get a half *** build log going and I'll throw in some pics of the other setups I had. Usually too lazy to post them.I though they were sweet, and I like older school woofers, I guess how you compared them to others woofers was kinda weird. but its gona be a great install, not to many people rock thoes woofers.
Thanks a lot, I'd appreciate it.i'll check. won't be until my next day off. storage is a mess. i can't garuntee they aren't crushed. i'll let you know.
