Even if my head is fine after a crash and my leg is screwed up, if I wasn't wearing a helmet the other insurance company would have a good argument for dismissing the charge because I didn't "mitigate my damage" by wearing a helmet or using a seatbelt. I've been screwed by enough insurance companies that I guess I just want to afford them no weaseling out of things. Also my grandpa died when my mom was little because he wasn't wearing a helmet, it goes from zero importance to lifesaving real fast.
I wear a helmet bro.

Me too but it’s my choice, for now anyway. Government should protect us from each other not from ourselves. Drugs should be legal. This so called war on drugs is a crime in itself.
I also like the gto/lemans, 2+2 and early firebirds. Probably a couple others I can’t recall.
Main reason I hate wearing a helmet is cause its so damn hot in the summer. Love em in the winter. I liked the 66/67 GTO, but I love Chevelles and Impalas. I miss my 79 ***** Am.

The big 3 and their sister companies had at least 1 cool car back then. I miss the ease of maintenance.
I like the 68 gto or just about any of them that had hide away headlights. 66/67 charger would be one I’d love to have. I’d vote for trump if he was somehow responsible for getting me one. I doubt the next stimulus check will buy the grill for one so..

You don't hear a lot of people say they love the 66/67 Charger. Everyone always goes for th 68-70. If trump bought me a mint condition 58 Impala I'd vote for him. Hey, everyone has a price. Lol.

That’s how they get into office why can’t we be bribed for a vote. I like the 68-70 but I also like to be different and not go for what everyone else wants. Kinda like the 58 impala not the impala most go for.

Honestly AOC exhibits nuance that was dead in this country. She's not party-line politician, that alone should make her interesting. Where she agrees with republicans is actually pretty well founded. Where she disagrees with them is even more apt.

Different looters, different problems bro. You think there aren't people starving during the pandemic? Trump's talking about reducing food stamps now, what a savior. He ruins the response and then kills the relief.
I have actually done some research into food stamps and welfare to see if we cut them out how much we could save on the deficit and it is a scam when politicians talk about that. They are appealing to the emotions of working class voters. In the information I found the 3 largest portions of the national budget go to the military, Medicare/Medicare, and Social Security. I couldn’t find the pie chart just now but the one I saw broke spending down pretty far into specific categories and one of the smaller categories which made up 16% included food stamps and welfare, and I think WIC also, as well as several other things. I view WIC as necessary. Basically if they cut welfare and food stamps both it would save pennies in the grand scheme. I don’t think it is even worth considering. I think we could cut more out of our military budget than anything else without cutting troops or equipment. When I was in the Navy we were deployed for GWOT and my ship burned around $75,000 worth of fuel every month. Multiply that by however many ships are deployed from the East coast and West coast and consider that we always have a group deployed patrolling the Persian Gulf and you get some pretty big numbers. I say we just don’t deploy. Unless we are involved in a war we should stay home. We should not intervene in other countries when they have civil war. If their citizens are unhappy let them revolt, that is what we did. If a country invaded another country we should maybe get involved but other than that I think we should pretty much mind our own business. Also, quit being the United Nations’ lap dog. How much American tax payer’s money has been spent in other countries when we have hungry citizens here? And our jobs are moving overseas too. That is garbage. If they want us to work for them they need to shoulder at least half the bill and probably more. My two cents

I am partial to the 1967 Chevelle SS myself. Never had a chance to own one but I have owned a 1967 Ford Fairlane GT and it was nice.

Helmets... Funny enough, this also happened in 1967 when the Federal Government required it. As of today, only two states do not have helmet laws. Iowa and Illinois.

"Government assistance", i.e. food stamps, welfare, WIC, started in 1935 and was backed by President Roosevelt, helps some people but is taken advantage of by more people than it is helping I think. It should be treated like unemployment in my opinion. Users of assistance should be required to seek employment and submit proof of job interviews. If they lack the standard education then they should be required to acquire education up to a High School diploma within a time limit. There should also be random drug testing. If ANY of these conditions are not met then assistance should be cut off immediately. This should weed out those who are taking advantage of the assistance. The sad thing is, people want to remove Roosevelt Statues. I am sure some of the uneducated people wanting them removed are using government assistance that got its start thanks to him. Some people are just ungrateful.

Yeah I think you pretty much are in line with AOC then on some stuff, so it appears anyways. Even in terms of medicare for all it would be cheaper in the long run when you take out the 20% overhead of the CEOs and subsidize the sick instead of letting hospitals eat the bill. Collections pays them like 2 cents a dollar and poor area hospitals often go to collections before patients even recover to avoid losing value on the debt. That would mean the poor areas which are often the most dense as well will have hospital bills paid in full for a change and everyone's medical treatment will benefit. Politicians like to say we have the best doctors in the world and the best healthcare but it's simply not true, the nations with the best healthcare by far are government healthcare because the bills can actually be paid and on time. As it is now it's a goldmine for greedy collections agencies and banks and nobody has any negotiating power against rigged prices.

My philosophy is always that the government should be doing things that are either not profitable but important or are profitable but people will die in lieu of losses. If it's life-sustaining then it should be regulated.

The military budget is insane, no doubt about it. With the fuel example I believe a large portion of that is because of Pearl Harbor, no? The carriers were out to sea during the bombing, otherwise we would have had a severely crippled navy. To be fair, carriers have A1B reactors now, there's certainly a reason to keep some ships out but not as many as we currently do. I mean how much damage could they really do to our military? Is it worth declaring war with the biggest military on earth to get one good sucker punch in? Japan was crazier than any countries today, even North Korea.

I think that's probably the one area where I agree with Trump, China is flexing their economic muscle and it's hurting our workers more than anyone. Businesses make due by moving to Ireland or whereverthefuck to avoid taxes and labor to China but the workers stay here and seek unemployment. Basically every progressive candidate is committed to taking the power of China to affect our workers more seriously.

With united nations honestly it's a dumb organization but for other reasons than that we pay for it. We're so incredibly not their lap dog that it's embarrassing the UN exists at all to be honest. The veto nations ruined what could have been an international organization for peace and turned it into a tribunal of permanently appointed nations seeking judgement and half-assed action based on their own interests and not things like genocide.

The only people taking advantage of it are the people selling the stamps. That obviously does happen, but "more than it's helping" is completely false. What are the fraud rates for it? Also it was LBJ, not FDR. It is definitely fair to say FDR did a lot for the poor people in this country, he's the most progressive president in the history of the US by far. You may be thinking of social security.

It's also worth mentioning that one of the first things Trump did in office was to allow corporations to bring their money back at a greatly reduced tax. Bush did the same. At this point companies are making smart investment predictions that eventually they'll be able to bring back their liquid assets eventually if they just save up for 4 or 8 years until the next R comes along to give them everything they want. This is the ultimate approval of these international businesses screwing our workers when we let them game our tax system and then reward them. All they have to do is drain the economy by diverting the profits until the economy hurts and then they have leverage to bring it back, I say fuckem.

There's this cycle that mega rich people seem to be aware of that poor people aren't, wherein they have periods of saving and expenditure. They buy up thousands of houses during the repression at foreclosure rates then squat on the property and sell when the value goes up and stash it all. You can rightfully assume like most people do that this is just called investing, but it's more than that. The megarich know that when they're given tax forgiveness for bringing their money back to the US the economy will improve and they'll make even more money on the investments with the rising housing costs, so they not only invest but also directly influence the value of their investment collectively to benefit those in the know with the right assets. They've got like a 2-stroke engine approach to gaming the financial system. The more money caught up in this back and forth wave that they cause, the more money they make, and the less stable the economy is. Poor and middle class people can't see the forest through the trees and the media is owned by the same people doing the damage so we're all perpetually misinformed.

The phrase "You gotta spend money to make money" should really be "You gotta have money to not lose money."

I remember looking at one of these with my dad he was looking at possibly buying it because it was close to home. It was a little too rough but I’ve wanted one ever since. He ended up buying a 62 corvette. He gave 6k kept for a long time more than tripled his money when he sold it. That’s how long ago that was.
Speaking of movie cars I’d rock that
