I'm sure all bigots don't think they're a bigot. What makes them one is what they push out into the world, not what motivations exist in their mind. The net result is the same whether you call it stupidity on their fault or fear/anger on your part, in fact I'd say most bigots prefer the fault to be on the other party. Regardless of whether you are or not, you conduct yourself like one and then blame the world for not accepting your motivations for it, so what's the difference?

Have you ever heard of the California Fair Employment and Housing Act? Punishments for discrimination have been around for your whole life and are present in every single state to varying degrees. This new one is for healthcare which are already highly regulated against discrimination, it's basically a law that didn't need to be written because it's already illegal but they're posturing to the ***** community.

Someone walks into my business. They want to pay for goods with Monopoly money. It is THEIR opinion that it is legal tender. My opinion is that it is not legal tender and I will not tolerate them trying to convince me that it is legal tender. I refuse to serve them. I am bigoted towards their opinion that Monopoly money is legal tender.

The problem is, people either don't know the actual definition of words or they try to use them to reinforce their position by trying to make someone look bad for not sharing their opinions.
