At least the mavs made a pretty good trade

Marion is awesome in an up-tempo offense because he runs to good or open opportunities; you don't need to create much for him, and he also boards very well for a 3. I think the best thing is that you guys can move Howard to the 2 and still bring Terry off the bench. I like Bass, though, and it looks like he's on his way out now.

I like Bass too, but if we can secure Gortat I think he is a better player.

I really, really don't think Gortat is anywhere near as good as Bass is. Gortat has size and that's about it. I know the Mavs were excited to get him and the Rockets really wanted him, too, but I haven't seen anything that makes me think he can do better than 10/5 on a nightly basis.

Bass, on the other hand, has a good midrange game and rebounds well for his size. I'm not sure where he's head to now (last I heard was Orlando but they're in luxury tax trouble already).

I think Gortat is more athletic than Bass nad has good inside defense. He isnt a star to build your team around but has a descent all around game to go with Nowitski and Marion as primary scorers. I like the fact that Kidd is staying and Terry coming off the bench is where he is best. Should continue to be an interesting off season.

Joe better be on the blower shopping Hamilton.
I'm still a bit surprised they didn't find a way to complete the Boozer for Rip trade that was talked about earlier. Would be good for both teams. Even though I don't like Boozer, and I don't think he'd made a great 5, he's really your best option right now for filling that front court, especially when Charlie V prefers to play a bit more on the perimeter.

Gortat more athletic than Bass? Really? At least Bass has a very solid midrange jumper...and I hate Kidd with a fiery passion. What a freaking joke the Mavs are for keeping him and shelling out 20+mil for a 35 year old has-been. Getting rid of Devin Harris was a huge mistake and it shows with how the team has done these past 1.5 years. I can't even stand to watch the games anymore, and I used to watch EVERY game.

Marion has a much better jumper then Bass, and someone has to play inside.

As far as Kidd, Harris isnt doing any better so thats pretty much a toss-up. It was a gamble and it hasnt paid off but that happens in sports. As far as this season he is the best they had an option of so its a good move to keep him.

There was a lot of talk about sending Maxiell and Kwame to New Orleans for Tyson Chandler. I read some of the Hornets boards, and they seemed to love this trade so it has me leery on Chandler's foot injuries.

Harris

PPG=21.3

RPG=3.30

APG=6.9

Kidd

PPG=9

RPG=6.2

APG=8.7

Are the two extra assists and 3 extra boards per game worth the 12 less ppg? Especially considering Kidd is getting paid nearly 3 times as much as Harris? You also have to consider that you traded for a 35 year old guy in his ~15th season and gave up a rising star who went off and put up better stats...and paid a lot more for the old guy! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Harris is the only player on a shitty team. Of course he is going to have good numbers. Dallas doesnt need a scoring point, they need a tough minded leader which they got in Kidd. We can debate this all night but it is what it is so who really gives a shit.

I thought Dirk was the leader on the team? And with Kidd's lack of offense, he's not really a threat to nail down a 3 or take it to the hole, so people are able to sag off of him and help on _____(insert scorer here). Harris knew he could drive on pretty much anyone, so he had that kind of respect from defenders. I don't think anyone is afraid of Kidd taking them to the hole on a nightly basis...

Kidd's defense is pretty pathetic as well...can't be a team leader if you don't play any D. It's actually sad to see how easy it is for other PG's to just have their way with him and get to the basket with ease. I remember watching a Mavs/Spurs game and seeing Harris just absolutely shut down Tony Parker. The announcers were hyping up how impossible it was to guard him, and Harris just stuck it to him all night long...it was great.

Look at me getting all worked up...this always happens when I start talking about Kidd.
