Think of it this way. Horsepower is little more than a mathematecal derivative of torque. Torque is what gets the car and load moving, horsepower is the rate at which it is applied.

i admittedly know nothing about trucks/cars.. i know the jeep drives like a tank and seems powerful. I put 32 bags of concrete in the jeep which weighs almost as much as a focus. Didnt even change the MPG.
So when i read the HP was almost the same i was confused.

It's because it has sufficient torque to pull that weight. One example is a semi. There is generally only 1-2MPG difference between an empty and full trailer and that is a huge weight difference.

You know, I don't know why I am responding to this. I am pretty sure you are trolling this. Even if you don't "know cars" you are well versed academically to understand or find out the why.
