Odd port question...

Crap now im getting two answers...So basically to remove 5 inches of effective port length I will need to remove 10 inches from the left wall?
ah, thats getting pretty extreme... to remove an effective 5 inches, you may have to remove 7inches...

ok, wait, no... I have the correct answer now... lol

the port is 4inches wide, yes?

so, you have to remove half the port width extra than what you actually want to remove, so, to remove 3 inches, you will actually remove 5 inches... to remove 5 inches, you remove 7...

I'd draw a pic, but I gotta go to work soon :p

basically, imagine, that from the shorter wall of the port, there is a 45 degree angle across to the longer side of the port, and the actual port length is at the centre of this line (which will be 2 inches longer than the shorter side) make sense? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif lol

Yeah its definately making sense...Im just gonna remove 7...since I wanna remove 5...thanks for the answer...
And chevy yes its all glued the box has been in my car for a few weeks.Just want to see how loud it can get...

Im just gonna hack off the left side of the port to shorten it...Its not really hard I think your just overthinking how hard it really is...less than 5 mins + jigsaw and im done...

If the box was glued together...your going to ruin the wood. The bond that glue makes (assuining you used wood glue...ie titebond or probond) is stronger than the MDF, the pannels will break before you get a clean separation on the glue.
Off to prove you wrong...and yes I used wood glue...

Go prove me wrong...if you are doing nothing but cutting, it might work out ok, but if you try to remove a pannel, be sure and take a picture of it with the wood sheerd apart and attached to the other pannel, because if you built it right (not saying you didnt) you should not be able to separate a joint without ruining the box.

You can remove it with out brakeing the pannel. you tear the first few layes of MDF off of the wall.

not pretty or optimal but it works.

as far as the length?

some people need to learn about SohCahToa

lol.

If you dont know SohCahToa you will fail physics at my school. From the time you hit motion in two directions untill you finish forces on an incline plane, power, and light you will be using it.

Dammn thats catchy...im in my second year of physics (college), and none of my teachers/profs have used that. Well it to late now, Already know it by heart, but probably wouldnt help me, because I never really like using acronyms or catch phrases to learn things, especially that fucking song they use to teach kids the quadriatic equation in basic alg.
