Odd Amp Problem

Alright guys, i have a four channel Alpine Amplifier.. a MRP-F240, its 40 watts RMS @ 4 ohm x 4

Now i was using the math method of tuning your amp

40x4=160sqrt=12.6 volts to tune to with a DMM playing a 1K hertz test tone at zero DB at your desired max volume youd use

Now my amp is a four channel.. so it has two gain knobs.. one gain knob for channel 1+2 and another for 3+4, now heres where my problem sets in

I tuned my front channels using channel 1 on the amp, and set it to 12.6 volts, i tuned the rear channels using channel 3, and went to 12.6 volts.. Now channel 1 and 3 read 12.6 Volts.. but when i checked out channel 2 and 4, they read 13.1 volts?

How is this possible? Channel 1+3= 12.6 volts Channel 2+4= 13.1 volts.. yet theyre tied off of the same gain knob? I checked my headunit, and all setting are on flat ( balance / fader etc is turned off, so its not something with the preout voltage)... Same gain knob, yet different voltages depending on the channel? wtf?

i have this same problem my kx850.4 reads 21 volts on channel one but reads 28 volts on channel 2, and channel 1 and 2 are set by the same gain knob, now my right speaker ****ing clips when i turn it up, my settings are all flat too, no time alignment set, no balance or fading goin on either, can anyone help us out?
