Have a buddy who has worked for Directed for years, through their acquisitions of Precision, Orion, a/d/s, etc. I asked him a while back about the PPI 356/355cs vs the a/d/s 346/345cs and he confirmed that they are basically the same.

He indicated that the tweets and xovers are basically identical to the a/d/s 3XXcs. The mids have been changed up a bit with the removable phase plug for the convertible tweeter mount and use a lighter material on the cone.

Also, if you compare the a/d/s & PPI PDF manuals online, they are 90% identical.

Just blew another ID mid... thinking about changing things up and trying the PPI 356cs.

the crossovers are 8 inch wide, my friend has them, sound great in sealed pods

they are awesome comps....I had a set of the 365cs, they sound amazing...and seriously, for that price-thats stupid cheap! I still have a like new 355cs set I'm trying to sell, if anyones interested.

do you think that 6.5" will do 4k?

Probably not well due to beaming. A 6.5" driver will start to beam (off axis suffers as the dispersion starts to narrow) at around 2khz. If you had it on axis, then it might be ok, but you'd have to take the T/S data and model it up to know for sure.

Got my set the other day, Hope they sound as good as they look, the xovers are very large, they are about 8" by 4 1/2".

update? looking got new mids, but if the set is better than ctx65cs, i'll definitevely get one
