well i purchased a PG tantrum 600.4 to power my boston acoustic pros. the amp was bridged to 300 x2. the comps were sounding amazing. i then decided to install my sub. well the bass from my pros was louder then the sub. i figure well why don't i try a 50 hz. tone? put it in crank it up hear a pop smell something burning. guess what? my comps are blown now. so what should i do now? finding comps capable of handling 300 watts rms aren't cheap. should i go active and get some mids and tweeters? i think i'll contact BA and see how much to fix them.

Sorry, to laugh at your misfortune.......but man that was a stupid thing to do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hilarious.gif.02a037aad04aa96f19982b298a3d70a8.gif

Anyways.....search around on egay. You may be able to find replacement mids for cheap. Were these the new Pro60's or the older Pro6.5's??

the older pro 6.5's.

all i had to do was turn up the non-fader and the sub sounds great. both mids totally fried. my car still stinks from the burnt coils. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Aye that sucks. 50 hz is a little low for comps isn't it? Whats the rms rating on those boston? should have adjusted the gain to match your Bostons!

i was playing the tone for my sub. the xover on the comps were at 63 hz. and the amp was set with a dmm. i played the tone for my sub and not the comps and ended up frying the comps. they sounded great the 3 minutes before i blew them.

Meh.......I think everyone knows my feelings of CDT by now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Do you still have that DX-28 I sold ya?

For $29/ea you can buy the CDT ES-07 "super audiophile" tweeter: http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=514902.8637&pid=1325, or find some other comparable tweeter

Pick up a mid that performs just as good if not better than the ES-07 mids, like the Seas CA18RNX, L18RNX/P or G18RNX/P: http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?exact_match=yes&product=SEW&cart_id=514902.8637 ...or, again, you could pick up some other mid that performs just as well such as the Dayton RS180, etc.

Go active with them and your amp and have just as good if not better performance at a fraction of the cost. Even if you didn't have the DX-28, I think you could find another active xover and build a killer frontstage as good or better than the CDT 07 lineup for much less cost.

i sold it before i ever used it. i had plans for a great big system but ditched them cause i wanted a laptop for school. my PG tantrum 600.4 has a 3-way xover so i guess i'll do that and go that way. from my past experience with cdt i really like there tweeters so i'll go with those tweeters. i'll look into those mids.
